Fuck the Bears

LOFL. Projection is fun.

It's YOU that LOVES Fields, and is blinded by that love. I don't hate Fields, he's an explosive player that seems like a good kid. He is however not a great QB. Maybe one day, but today is not that day.

For a dude that is the fastest guy on the field, he looks like he's drenched in molasses as a QB. Ridiculously slow dropback, windup and delivery. Habitually LATE. Has been from day one, and I haven't really seen a big improvement. If we're going by one game(which of course is kinda silly) but it's what we've got to judge so far, he looks as if he's even regressed a bit.

You are the Fields homer that refuses to admit that he's not where he needs to be.
Stop being a douche. I've said numerous times that Fields has a ways to go as a passer, and he missed his share of throws Sunday. Just because I don't habitually shit on him like you do, doesn't make me a homer. Fact is, we have no idea how good of a QB Fields is yet, and the odds are we won't while he's in Chicago. Eberflus doesn't know how to coach offense, and Gatsy is a pussy.

I haven't resorted to name-calling like you. Calling everyone that disagrees with you, stupid or idiotic, is what douches do.

Getsy and Eberflus have their share of the blame, but ultimately it's up to players to execute. They are not, and a massive part of that "they" is Fields.

The fact that you can't admit that you have an Ohio St bias is just silly.

So because I'm an OSU fan and don't blame fields for a "massive" part of the team's overall failures, I'm a homer. He literally took the offense on his back last year by himself and still get's shit on because of "his record" that was driven by the league's worst defense (who is still being horribly coached), but sure, I'm just a dumb homer.

It's an incredibly casual fan approach to blame everything on the QB, and it's pathetic you say "I haven't resorted to name-calling" as some sort of badge of honor even though, without provocation, you're the type of person to say someone is "sucking Fields' dick" because they don't want to blame everything on him.

Justin Jefferson at the age of 24 now has more receiving yards than any Bears WR, in their entire history of the organization.
It isn't as surprising when you find out that the single season passing yards and passing TD leader for the Bears is Erik Kramer.

As. A. Runner. He threw for over 200 yards, TWICE last year.

Taking the team on his back is great. Like I said. Seems like a good kid. Decent leader. Great runner.

None of which have anything to do with what we are talking about. Until he vastly improves/speeds up his footwork, windup, delivery, and most importantly, his TIMING, he will continue to "carry" the team on his LEGS.

I am not, nor have I ever blamed everything on Fields, but he is definitely a problem. When you continually play outside the timing of the designed play, you disrupt the entire offense.

Here's a fun example. Chase Claypool, who EVERYONE hates and who sleepwalked through last week's game. His best game as a Bear was last year, in fact, THE ONLY GAME, where he looked like an actual receiver was with Trevor fucking Simien at QB.

I hope for the best for Fields. The next decade hinges on him figuring it the fuck out. So far, he has not. Dude needs to pick up the pace, and trust his eyes. But RIGHT NOW, he is playing the position as poorly as anyone who's ever put on a Bears jersey. That is just a fact. Shitty team or not. Great QBs make the team better. He has PLENTY of talent around him now, and plenty of great QBs have played and or are playing behind shitty lines or with less talent.

When you rush to defend the guy at every turn, and never honestly criticize his play, all while calling everyone who does stupid, ya, yer gonna get a dick-sucking comment. Welcome to the internet.

As I said, I've had no problem pointing out his shortcomings both last year and in week 1. He still has a ways to go. That said, he has played a little over 1.5 seasons worth of games so far, and has had not only no consistency in his coaching staff and weapons, but clearly this staff and organization as a whole has a very shitty history of developing QBs. He's just the next in line. They get shredded for taking Trubisky over Mahomes and Watson, but I'm honestly not sure what either of them would look like on this team either.

Can you name me a QB who, if drafted in 2021 onto this team with the inconsistent, offensively-challenged coaches we've had, lack of high-level weapons, bad offensive line, and shit defense would be doing any better at this point? No shit he still has issues, his development has been non-existent. Problem is, Caleb Williams or Drake Maye or whoever else you wanna draft next year isn't going to just come in and magically turn this team into a winner unless some serious changes are made.

You are preaching to the choir. Mahomes would be bagging groceries by now.

Chicago has been where QBs and WRs go to die forever. Waiting to see someone change the album. Still waiting....

I don't doubt that Mahomes and Watson are simply more talented than Trubisky, but also D-Hop, Tyreek Hill, and Kelce are all several levels above any receiving weapon Chicago has ever had outside of two seasons of Brandon Marshall. The jury is out on Fields, but we'll likely never see him hit his ceiling in Chicago, regardless of how high it is.

He needs to just grip it and fucking rip it. The playcalling and design will never be perfect. The supporting cast will never be all pro bowlers. His problems right now, are in his head, and in his details. Pick up the pace on the drop back, trust his receivers and rip it.

Lots of shitty, sloppy play last week that didn't help matters, but damn dude, the film was rough to watch. Just too slow. Too much hesitancy. As many shitty plays as there were, there were some great designs, and he missed all but three of them. The TD to Mooney was his only real throw in the game. If he can do that like 20 more times a game, lol, he'll be fine. But right now, the system and coaches have little to do with it. It's on the field. Only so much you can do in practice to replicate game day speed.

The TD to Mooney and the dart he also threw to Mooney while on the run stood out. You're right though, his biggest strength as a passer is the deep ball. He also needs to have more than one designed run play, and our RBs also need to do better than 3ypc. I think I'm ready to see Roschon trot out the first drive and not look back. He looks like the best back in the bunch, so no reason to stash him.

Week 1 was a weird week across the league. Fields wasn't good, but he had a better week than guys like Mahomes, Burrow, Lamar, Dak, Daniel Jones, and several others. Also to be fair, GB has a very solid defense. TB has talent on that side but I don't think they're at GB's level. Hoping to see a different ballgame this week.

Starting LT just went on IR and their DC is not with the team.

So yeah. Caleb Williams next Bears QB.
