New B10 schedules released for 2024 and uh...

…but to act like his situation regarding coaching and overall surrounding talent has played no part is intentionally ignorant at best.
I think this happens to a lot of QBs. I remember David Carr got thrown to the wolves with the Texans. But look at Mr. Irrelevent Purdy. I always thought he was good at Iowa State. He didn’t get drafted by a sorry team and he’s surrounded by a great team and great coaching. Getting drafted higher can be great in one way, but the kiss of death in others.

Probably because the QB coach for GB, is a better job than OC for Miss State? It's not like he was fired.

Okay, so you've admitted he has a long way to go? So how long of a leash does he get? They are going to have to make a decision soon to extend him long-term. If he's not any better the rest of the year, we'll have 3 years of evidence. Almost nobody gets a 4th year, if they've proven not capable.
No you won't. You'll have 3 years of the Bears wasting his time and stunting his development. Then next year they'll draft another QB and we'll see the same thing happen. I've said before, it might be best for Fields' career if Chicago were to let him go. Or if he keeps playing well like the last two weeks, trade him after his value goes up (Atlanta comes to mind for several reasons). However, if you can see 3 years of complete and total coaching incompetence and overall lack of talent surrounding him and say "Yep that QB isn't good, no question about it", then I'd question what you know about football.

Would you tell me you think Lawrence would've done better than Fields with that coaching and BS surrounding cast up to this point? Look what happened to Lawrence when a real HC took over and they got him some weapons. The same thing has happened in recent years with guys like Hurts, Allen, Tua, Geno Smith, etc. They got Fields an actual WR1 this year for the first time and, shocking, DJ Moore is a top 5 WR.

Carr is a great example. I think Tim Couch could've been a very good pro QB but the Browns ruined him a lot in the same way.

Even if we can agree Fields has had the worst coaching staffs in his 2 and a half seasons, he still hasn't proven to be a good thrower of the ball. He misses a lot of throws and holds on to the ball too long. He's made costly mistakes, most notably against Denver this season. Both parties are to blame for this not working thus far. If Fields doesn't perform better after 3 years, the Bears will rightfully move on. Especially considering they will likely have the #1 pick because Carolina looks awful.

Yeah, I think Lawrence would have done better because he's a better QB. Alot will depend on how this year finishes. If he can't perform well with Moore, and a very good TE, he isn't the guy.

Check out Lawrence's numbers as a rookie before he got a real HC. He was abysmal but then they finally got him a proper HC and weapons. No reason to think Fields can't flourish in the same way.

"the Bears will rightfully move on" - sure, to the next QB they're going to ruin. There is no QB who can succeed with consistently awful HCs and coordinators. It just doesn't work that way in the NFL. If Fields does turn it around and play well this year, it's even more reason for Chicago to bring in someone better. If he can play well for arguably the worst HC/OC combo in the NFL, imagine what he can do with even halfway competent coaches.

You seem to be placing the majority of the blame on the coaches, and absolving Fields. Fields hasn't been good, even this season. Even against Washington, he was missing easy throws. And his game against Tampa was as bad as I've seen. No doubt he can be spectacular, given his arm and athleticism. He needs to raise his floor though, because when he's bad, he's really bad.

Whoa ATF. Wasn’t Lawrence’s previous head coach the revered former Buckeye head coach that won them a natty? Or does my memory suck worse than I think it does?

No, it was the revered former Buckeye head coach that won them a natty and failed tremendously in the pros.
