It's really a strange argument from OSU and WSU fans. It's basically "If Oregon didn't have Nike, they would be as bad as us!"

I mean it's probably true but every school that competes nationally (top 20 caliber programs) has their built in advantages. Oregon has geography working against them far more than other national contenders.
 
Washington State's coach is literally coached at Walla Walla High School before the wazzu job. That man is not getting a major head coaching job.

No doubt about it - once the scholarship level was set to 85 max in 1994 and in 1989 the Ducks won their first bowl game in forever, Phil Knight started the arms race to compete against the blue bloods once the playing field was leveled out some. The University and Uncle Phil took football seriously. Since the 85 scholarship rule the Ducks have won the PAC 9 times, 3 Rose Bowl Wins, a couple NY6 Fiesta Bowl wins, is now a top 10 recruiting program, the conference’s only playoff win, played for National Championship twice, finished #2 in 2001. Yes obviously the National Championship has not been obtained, however they are competing for it, maybe just maybe one of these years they can break through. I think all of us PAC team fans are pissed off what is happening to WSU & OS.

He’s not leaving because Washington State is a destination school. They’re not a stepping stone on the way to Miami.
