UM folds ... accepts punishment

Well sure the current good teams are the current good teams. It doesn't mean they'll always be the good teams (i.e. future).

As I said CFB goes in cycles. With the right coach, USC will be back in the elite someday. It doesn't mean 'ignore the past'.
Never said it did, but I’d rather be good now than have been good 10 years ago. And I’d rather be good 10 years from now than to have been good 10 years ago.

Every program has highs and lows, but using past success to puff out your chest is a bit embarrassing. Ok, you had a dynasty in the 50’s, how does that help you win now?

Unless you're like Miami and Nebraska, then are just stuck in the low cycle.

I'd rather be a fan of a program that's been good and continues investing in the program in hopes of being good again, but that's just me.

Nice to know our low is still like 10/11 wins.

Miami will never be what they were from the 80’s-early 00’s again. Location is prime, but facilities are shit and they’re a tiny private school that insists their football players need to be able to read now. Really, all the Florida schools have fallen behind the facilities arms race, but UF and FSU at least have on campus stadiums.

Nebraska will never be what they were in the 90’s again, but I could see them eventually being a ranked team most every year

That sounds like the team currently sucks. When your program falls on real hard times, it’s nice to have good memories to look back on, I guess.

Me, I’d rather be good now and continue investing so that we can remain good into the future

They do.

However, they fire failed coaches, continue to invest in facilities, and are at least attempting to get back to respectability.

It's what bluebloods do.

OSU has been the most consistently good team of my lifetime for sure
This is an interesting thought. Would a fan base want their team to be consistently good and not win a natty or win a natty every 10-15 years but suck in between.

The late 80s-early 90s were pretty mediocre. With a 4-6-1 season in 1988 (coopers first year) being the rock bottom

and then 1999,2000.2001 were pretty low points as well. The 6-6 season in 1999 was probably the lowest of the low that i've personally consciously witnessed. I don't really count 2011 considering the circumstances.

We havent really had 2 terrible terrible seasons in a row since the 1920s though. Most teams probably can't say that.

UGA fired a coach coming off back to back 10 win seasons and have been upgrading facilities in an effort to stay on top.

It’s what new bloods do

Throughout my memory, I can only remember one truly bad UGA team, and they even made some shit bowl. 8 wins is the floor other than the one outlier season in 2010. I lived the first option. It’s pretty frustrating to always been at least pretty good, but never win it all.

If I had to choose, I’d choose the latter, but thankfully there’s some middle ground in there

"HeY eVeRyBoDy. DiD yOu KnOw GeOrGiA's gOOd RiGhT nOw?"

Nebraska fired a head coach that never won less than 9 games. They went into a tailspin, but it was the right decision at the time.
Where's Pelini coaching now?

I was born in 91. A 3 year stretch of mediocrity plus that one year between Tress and Meyer. There’s been more successful programs in that time, but they’re all went through some hard times. Alabama was dog shit from 00-07 minus 05

I'd definitely rather be a Ohio State fan than like a LSU fan.

Yea LSU has 1 more title than us in the BCS/CFP era, but they have so much more mediocrity in-between those titles.

It would take a disaster hire for UGA to not at least be good in the future too, not saying it can’t happen, but UGA arguably has the best geographic location in the country

I think Nebraska made a great hire with Rhule. Just gotta be patient and not expect the 90’s to happen again

From a coaching standpoint we've been very lucky. 75% of our fanbase would be on suicide watch if we ever had to go through the Brady Hokes, Mack Strongs, or Jim McEllwains of the world.
Well to be fair, most fanbases with an expectation of winning would.
