Where in the world are you getting Boeckman was better than Mccord? Dude was the definition of a average game manager.

Beanie Wells and the defense made him look much better than he was in 2007

I remember Boeckman looking awful against Illinois and Michigan (the latter was just an ugly game)

McCord played much better than that (not saying he had a great game, but 18/30 with 9.0 Y/A and 2/2 TD/INT; the first INT was awful, the 2nd was in desperation time and he was getting hit by Harrell), and against a much better Michigan defense than that 2007 squad.

His stats were fine, but he missed a bunch of throws, and couldn't get through his progressions. And having watched him a lot, he's not a great athlete(he's fine, but not special). Which given the Oline struggles at points this season would have helped. There are already 3 guys in the portal better than him(Ward, Leonard and Gabriel).

McCord progressed zero in the mental aspect of the game. His 3rd year in the program and 12th start of the year he was still seeing the field like a freshman in his first couple of starts. He’s not a guy who’s suddenly going to change he is what he is that this point

Can't believe Gabriel has another year of eligibility. Feels like he's been in CFB for like a decade now

Yeah, it's crazy, but true. Covid year, plus medical redshirt year.

you couple that with below average athleticism and you've got a guy you can't win a title with. Even with the best core of receivers in football.

Of course the Michigan fans think we are “making a mistake” letting him go lol he’d be their best QB next year in the game.

Hard to see Cam Ward being an upgrade especially when we will have to pay him 7 figures

Fleming transferring is surprising considering he'd have been WR1 more than likely. Oh well.

I feel like we are too hung up on Boeckman. Obviously the goal is better qb play than that. There are also a million variables between then and now.

Eh I don't think so, he woulda been a back end rotational guy again getting passed by more talented younger guys.

Yep. Carnell Tate coming up. If we hang onto Jeremiah smith, and then other younger talent. They are waiting their turn

Yea Boeckman threw 14 INTs that year (3 against Illinois), I don't think he was really better than McCord, they are probably about equal though. Give McCord that 2007 team worth of skill position players and he probably looks worse as well.

McCord was a BIG step back from what e’ve had. He didn’t have to be Stroud or Fields or even Haskins, but he was glaringly mediocre.
Well, yeah. You aren't going to have a 1st round NFL draft pick at QB every year. It just isn't feasible.

Cardale Jones wasn't better than McCord. Reality is -- many of the other QB's weren't better than McCord, they were just better runners.

Only one of those guys had a chance to see any meaningful PT next season.

I do kinda feel bad for Cam Martinez. He was a terrible DB but he should have never been put in that position to begin with. He would have been better on the offensive side of the ball

Stokes, Brown & Turner are really the only ones i'm concerned about or even slightly shocked about just because of depth implications at DB. Knowles refusing to have any kind of rotation on defense is going to start hurting us in the depth department.

The rest outside of McCord and to a extent Fleming were guys who were just going to be buried on the depth chart

Stokes and Pryor are the only ones in the end im kind of bummed about. Thought both had good potential. Pryor just is hurt too much and Stokes seemed to get passed on the depth chart by Freshmen this year.
