NFL WEEKLY GAME THREAD Week 14

I think we’ve had a discussion about generators being essential for any home owner before

They have become very damn expensive but, yeah, I'm glad I have one.

Not sure I would have pulled the trigger though if I didn't have a chest freezer full of meat and live in a cold climate

The time does get down ti where there’s only time for one play left. You don’t hold on that play. I didn’t think I needed to explain this five times to y’all.
But again, I overestimated you lot.

If there is less than 10 seconds left, maybe, but 24 you could run quite a few quick plays if a defensive penalty is stopping the clock every time

I think we’ve had a discussion about generators being essential for any home owner before

Was never really a big thing for me since my neighborhood is right next to another substation and everything from there to us is underground. Problem is, the tornado fucked up a larger substation on the other side of town that provides power for ours.

So you can guarantee, if we're out, the whole fucking town is out.

But we went and bought a generator yesterday anyway. Surprisingly got a good deal at Lowes on a small 2200 watt one so atleast we can power things in the house as needed. Actually took it over to my inlaws who were even less prepared than we were to charge their devices and power up their refrigerators.

Where I live, there’s a ton of trees and all the lines are overhead. Power goes out during nearly every storm. In fact, my satellite tv is more reliable than my electricity in a storm.

That with being in a warm climate with freezers full of meat, and being on well water so no power means no running water, a generator is a must have. It was one of the first things I bought when I moved out my parent’s house

You still aren't getting it, the game cannot end on a defensive penalty, either. The clock would show zero and they would ruin another play. You can't keep committing the penalty indefinitely

God you’re dumb. It’ll come to you .. I hope.

Maybe you'll realize you're the idiot for suggesting this in the first place.

If this was good advice, some team would have already tried it

Lmao. Circular reasoning.
Am I to understand you finally understood it , though? Took you long enough

This is the worst group of receivers he’s had since he got to the NFL, and it’s getting to him. Spoiled brat crybaby
I can only imagine how pissed he gets every time he sees tyreek running free and getting 180+ yard games for the dolphins.

For starters, if everyone else is answering the question the same way...maybe it isn't everyone else that has it wrong, it was the person asking the question.

And to answer your question it's because the ball is on the half yard line and you just committed a penalty. As soon as any QB with a brain sees the flag, he just tucks it and tries to run into the end zone. If he scores, great. If he doesn't there is still time or worst case the game can't end on a defensive penalty so they get an untimed down from now the 1/4 yard line. Run the same play, and force either another penalty and untimed down or again try to run it into the end zone.

So you first use appeal to the masses fallacy. We’ll just move on from that.

“Any QB with Half a brain.”
Have you ever assessed the brains of nfl players, coaches, GMs?

I can let them throw three times to regularly-guarded players from the half yard line before they are forced to decide if they want a FG… or I can manhandle the receivers for ~four plays before they have to make the same decision.

Seems like an easy choice.

But y’all go ahead and kept using circular logic and appeals to authority and masses. Those aren’t black and white logical fallacies or anything.

Note: there was a time a team with a lead didn’t employ massive holding on the final offensive play with only a few seconds left to run out the clock. But then someone thought of it, and slowly teams started doing it.. to such great success they had to outlaw it.
Y’all were there making the same arguments: “how come no one else does it?”
“Why do all my boyfriends on this forum think it’s a bad idea?”

Laughable.

Well, continue to do what you do and ask stupid questions and then think everyone else is wrong. You asked a dumb question, were given the same answers as to why it is dumb, and continue to pretend everyone else is in the wrong.

Don't ever change, the world needs people like you to help remind the rest of us how good we have it.

Nope. Not given same answers.
Given mostly logical fallacies, and then after that responses not understanding what was proposed (even after multiple explanations), then after that still giving factually dubious claims that teams would get so many more plays. Then ONLY after all that, you and only you gave an on-point retort… that smart QB’s would tuck and run.., and even that is dubious.

The touchdown pass from Dak to Gallup to 3 seconds off the clock. That's it. They would get more than 4 plays in this strategy and would definitely just run it in after the first couple penalties that put them on the 1/4 or less line

Successful plays because the guy was uncovered would take four seconds. Plays where the QB would be searching unsuccessfully for any open receiver would take much longer. And you know that. It’s like you’re purposefully obtuse. Or maybe you’re just dumb

No, it wouldn't. As soon as the QB sees the receivers getting tackled he is throwing the ball at one of them. He isn't dancing around with the ball.

And I just highlighted a successful touchdown pass from the goal line that took 3 seconds off the clock, not 4.

The only dumb one here is in your mirror when you stand in front of it

I did say that if it were closer to 10.seconds this might work as it would take a couple plays for the offense to pick up on what the defense is doing. 24 seconds is too much time for this strategy to work

So now the QB is just gonna throw the ball away (at a receiver being tackled)? Lol. Okay. How does that lead to success? Lol.

Yes, no QB is going to multiple reads on a goal line pass.

Once again, from the 1 foot line, eventually a team will just sneak it in with probably 15 seconds on the clock after the first two penalties.

That is virtually impossible to stop with the QB dive

One guy is finally saying “obviously he’ll tuck it and run.”
One guy saying “obviously he’ll throw it at a receiver being tackled.”
So much for the obvious solution. Lol. Y’all are funny.

And now one is changing his mind to “obviously the one foot line is so much easier than the half yard line, and they’ll QB sneak.”
With no time outs, mind you, in case it fails.

Lmao
