Got back from the honeymoon. Great trip to Jamaica, but the trip back was one from hell. Everything that could go wrong, did. And took parts of 3 days to get back. Just a one day work week tho, so that’s sweet

This popped up on Netflix and I watched it.

I did not care for it. Seemed like some weird mashup of Contact and Alien, but doesn't do much to actually connect the ideas.

I also didn't like the facial expressions on the main broad.

Seems like people either love it (like me) or hated it. I have friends who are huge Alien fans who refuse to even acknowledge Prometheus.

I don't hate it, I just didn't like it. Honestly, I didn't pay a lot of attention to the horror descriptors before I watched it and was expecting more of a profound 'where did we come from/God' story. That might be why I was disappointed. I think I was expecting more than an aliens want to kill us film.

I was completely surprised when the two nerds got killed by the alien snakes. I was like, "what the fuck does that have to do with God?!"

I will ask this, at what point do homages cross over into straight plagiarism? Quite a few bits were way too close to things in Alien.

The way I understand it, Prometheus is a prequel to Alien, and done in a way to explain where the aliens in Alien came from.

I did quite a bit of reading about it after seeing it, and basically the director of Alien was often asked the origins of the Alien(s). Prometheus was his answer.
