Can't say DeBoer is entirely off the table. He did just sign a contract last year and is in negotiations for a massive increase with the move to the B1G so his buyout would be very large. At least UW would be able to throw stupid money at a replacement if it happened.

The x-factor is his daughter starts at UW this fall on the softball team. UW does have a top 5 softball program, but bama isn't that far behind. I'd be more worried if it was Oklahoma than Bama, but you can't say it isn't possible.

Never know, but if they lock him down for what he’s worth, he seems like the type who will stick around for a long time. And his daughter enrolling, and as someone mentioned he doesn’t really have any southern ties or recruiting experience (though, he was only on the west coast a couple years and regional ties mean less than they ever have).

Not to mention coaching at an elite level adds at least a decade to you physically.

Tom Osborne looks like the Crypt Keeper at 86 and he's looked that way since he was in his late 70's.

Heh, probably a few. I've been a fan since 78, suffering through the Dubose years in the 90s, so there's no turning back for me.

... and regardless of who gets hired there, Bama would still smoke the one team I'd pull for against them.

I ain’t going no fucking where. I sat in Legion Field and watched us lose to LaTech. I paid fucking $40 to watch us lose to Northern Illinois. I was born a Bama fan and will die a Bama fan

Wasn't he only at Fresno a few short years as well? I mean I wouldn't blame him for taking one of the top 2-3 jobs in the country if it's something he's dreamed about. There aren't many of those jobs around. The recruiting advantage he gets day 1 would be unreal. Look at where he took this roster in 2 short years? You think he could rule the sport for a while from a classic power blue blood school?

I'm not going to feel at ease until he signs an updated contract.

I think he only had a base salary of like 4.3 million or something this year? Harbs was at 8m. Again, before bonuses. They need to get him up to that 8-9m range with some stupid level of buyout to feel good about it.
 
Any truth to the rumors that this is about his wife suddenly dealing with health problems and that it wasn't planned?
