DeBoer Replaces Saban

Huge financials here. Alabama has to cover at least $12.5 million to buy out of DeBoer's UW contract. Since UW was going to double his salary from $4.2 million to $8.4 million, my guess is that Alabama offered him at least $10 million plus the buy out.

Bro that's pocket change these days in College coaching salaries.

He can’t recruit? So, the players that beat Oregon three times in a row were just scrubs? Oh, now we worried about recruiting at Florida? Why? Have you seen the Gators lately?
He got Penix and Dillon Johnson from the portal. Also had a previous relationship with Penix from his coordinator days. Other than those two all the standouts were Petersen and Lake recruits.

I've said I trust him and will give him the benefit of the doubt and not worry about recruiting looking "meh" on paper until it's a proven issue. Turns out he just doesn't hang around anywhere long enough to ever prove himself as a recruiter. Maybe that's just his MO. Look for him to jump to the NFL after a couple good years at Bama.

Who the hell is "softy"?

The biggest UW homer in local radio. Didn't go to the school, but lives and dies by Husky football. This was his last post last night after spending most of the day whining and bitching and actually crying a bit on his radio show.

That honestly wouldn't surprise me at all. If he ends up with a title within the first 2-3 years I could see him taking a NFL opening.

He loves coaching and is fucking great at it. Didn't get the feeling he liked recruiting.

I had worried about him taking the Seahawks opening before the rumors to Bama looked legit.

So, is that right? The Gumps really threw a bunch of money at a guy who’s only been an FBS HC for like 3-4 years?

Yeah, this has the vibes of a not-too-distant crash and burn.

The fact DeBoer took it shows how bleak the outlook was at UW. He didn't do anything to maintain the success he was having, all those studs who were the reason UW had a good season were recruited by Lake. Obviously no one is going to replicate Saban's success at Alabama and any coach going into that situation knows they won't live up to expectations. I'd think anyways. I think DeBoer goes to Alabama knowing he can win 10 wins, then as the seat becomes warm because he isn't winning 12, 13 games and being successful in the playoffs, he goes to the NFL.

Most years, a 10 win Bama will be in the playoffs as the SEC's third team.

We've been hearing about the big new restructured deal for a while. There were reports it was ready to sign after the Pac 12 championship.

Would be interested in some leaks about when Alabama started talking with Deboer. Or if it was just Sexton in his ear telling him to hold off with a wink.

We like to bitch about the evolving nature of CFB and everything wrong with it, maybe we should start with questioning if one agent representing all the big name coaches is really ideal.

Washington just got Oregoned.

I fucking hope we don't go after your coach. Love Smith, but not as our HC.

And I don't want zona's coach either. I'll pass.
Only fools come after Michigan State coaches. It’s like Detroit Lions HCs. Once we are done with them everyone has realized they were worthless
