Until Bally Sports dies or is bought out in some way, I don't see this taking off. It won't have NBA, MLB, or NHL other than national broadcasts. I didn't see in the article, but does this mean they're pulling ESPN/Fox Sports off of all other platforms like cable, YoutubeTV, Fubo, etc? I feel like that's the only way it gets any kind of traction.

You probably have the same bundle I have which is HULU Live, Disney and ESPN+. My guess is that ESPN+ goes away and you can add the new streamer to your bundle.

My guess is through the bundle we would get it for about $40 a month.

I’ll pull the trigger on this but I’m about at the limit of what I’m willing to pay in order to stream. It’s getting ridiculous and shit worth watching is getting further and further spread out. I have Paramount for the Taylor Sheridan shows and Star Trek but right now there is nothing new worth watching streaming. These guys need to be consistent with the content.

It will have NBA through Warner ownership of TNT. One article I read was that it would capture 70% of American sports.

So would TNT have regional networks? I can already watch nationally broadcasted NBA games so I don't see what would change. I meant it moreso around NBA/MLB/NHL markets finally being able to watch their local teams regularly, like back in the good old days.

I’ve got no idea how it will work or when it will go into effect.

The way I’m reading this is the networks are preparing for the end of cable as we know it. Channels like TNT survive off the money they make from cable and those numbers are declining quickly so at some point the gig will be up, channels like TNT will be cannibalized for the content worth the most and moved onto a streamer and the rest tossed.

This move wouldn’t be happening if the powers that be weren’t predicting a cosmic shift in the way consumers get content so they are trying to get ahead of the game.

How you watch sports and where you watch them today will probably not exist 10 years from now or sooner.

I wouldn’t be shocked if when the B1G and SEC current deals are over they combine and form a joint streaming service.

B1G deal ends 2030
SEC deal ends 2034
ACC GOR ends 2036

By 2037 the ACC will lose probably 6 teams (ND being one of them) and you will see some type of merger/Aliance with the Big 12 and remaining ACC teams. Call this P2.0

The SEC and B1G will have a combined streaming service with revenue split. Call this P1.0

Everyone else in D1 will be P3.0.

Basically everything is going to change drastically over the next decade.

Oh I have no doubt your estimates for 10 years out are accurate, but the way I drink whiskey and eat red meat I'm not planning that far ahead.

It would be great if we were able to concentrate all sports onto one streaming platform; that's 95% of why I have live TV. I'm just interested where this venture will line up with the Bally component. If it was all live sports, including local teams in the region, it would be outstanding and sell like gangbusters.

i feel Bally's is already dead.. Like the Rockets broadcasts are now on some space city broadcast channel on xfinity .. not bally's.. wonder if the Astros continue on that as well

which i hate.. cause I enjoy Ballys showing TXHSFB games throughout the year. Not sure what exactly happened but RSOs are going extinct..

Yeah, it will be all about the cost. I can get everything they have, plus more with YTTV. Cost me $20 more.

On the other hand, I don't watch anything more, but $200 a year doesn't motivate me to give it up.

As for those not in the group - horse racing, LOL - most of those are on broadcast TV that you can get for nothing OTA. A sports fan could pay $50 a month, plus the cost of a digital antennae and be pretty happy.

They should be dead. In fact, they never should've been alive to begin with. The regional Fox Sports setup from the 2010s was amazing. Bally was a gouge job by fuckrags who decided to screw over the fans. It brought nothing of value, but instead made fans pay extra for the same thing (or be forced to switch cable providers because the Bally app is trash).

I seriously think they may have a tough year. They don't want to remember it, but the team we beat 63-3 is what they are returning, plus some new transfers, and then a freshman class that shouldn't really matter. Last year they hit on the transfers, but will they again this year? It's not guaranteed. The sportsbooks have their over-under wins at 9.5. They go under that, they aren't making it most likely, and I can see 3 losses on their schedule.

they have been hitting on transfers ever since the portal started.. I think that is what saved Norvell at FSU. They have killed it with DEs too..

I found this comment interesting. “Many of us have streamer fatigue as it is.” Never heard of such. Would you educating an old, technologically challenged old man about this?
 
this is just a guess but if I were ESPN and I was going to drop that type of money, then I would get with my sponsors and see who wants to pony up money. I’m not saying that ESPN is not spending money out of their pocket but I would probably guess 75% of that would come from advertisers
