EPL 2023/2024

The analytics part made me laugh the most.

I'd wager if you looked at Chelsea's stats, they were good all season long but took the players a while to begin converting.

Upper management blaming a manager for a team's perceived underperformance when the guilty party is themselves for putting the squad together is a tale as old as time.
They seem to have this "want it instant" attitude, which doesn't work in the EPL, or football in general.

Look at Man City, even with their billions etc, when they took over, it still took a few seasons (3 or 4 I think) until they were legit competitors for the league and other trophies.

Nicolas Jackson shooting accuracy made Darwin Nunez look like Lionel Messi.

They've been that way since Abramovic bought the team. Always went with win now managers and the owner abused his purchasing power to buy all the players the manager felt like he needed to actually win right away.

New ownership went in a new direction. Still spending an ungodly amount of money but on young players that aren't ready to win now. Somehow they still expected to win right away. Poch was smart for leaving, but stupid for accepting the job in the first place in hindsight.

Every season any of the Big 6 could make top 4. City are basically a lock as long as Pep is there. All the other clubs have had down seasons where they didn't finish in UCL. Looks like Villa may be a consistent contender now and you can't forget about Newcastle either.

My way too early predictions for next season are City and Arsenal in top 2.

3-6 could be a real dogfight between Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea, and Newcastle. I think Villa fall off a bit with UCL plus EPL games to play. ManU still way off it.
We are going to see how big of an impact Klopp was. I just have a horrid feeling Slot ain’t going to work out. Shit they could have had DeZirbi or Poch for free.

Ten Hag will be available Monday per Sirius football show. Turned down interview opportunity at Bayern this week. Bayern wtf interviewing that clown. Just the thought of it makes them look like idiots again.

Hansi Flick off the market. Anyone want Xavi lol? Another team that is a shit show.

Huge win for Man U. In Europe now but still Ten Hag getting sacked I hear. Still great to see City lose.

Beyond great to see MC lose.

They going with Poch if they sack Ten Hag? There is some options but this dudes won them a trophy now, I think they keep him unless they want someone out there that isn’t with a team right now.

Tuchel. I read today he sabotaged bayern negotiations because already has the Man U job.

Admittedly I forgot about ole Tom T. I honestly think that's a good hire. The guys had success.

Yes he has had some success, but never lasts long anywhere. Funny he started as Klopp assistant at Mainz I believe, then over to Dortmund. Everyone loves Klopp and everyone hates Tuchel. Offensively, he does not offer much. Generally, his teams have been tougher defensively. But at Bayern neither.

Very true on all counts. I remember his tactical gameplan against City for Chelsea in the champions league final. Damn good. I also remember Bayern didn’t score shit at times this year. (Very frustrating as an overs bettor)

Ten Hag decision to be decided next week. I see Villa locked up Unai until 2029. No buzzards coming in for him. That leaves Poch and Tuchel in no mans land but I still think one gets the Mab U job and Ten Hag still gets sacked. Chelsea going for neither of these two.

For Liverpool, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Spurs, West Ham fans here (is that everyone?), good news, Man U keeping Ten Hag.

I saw Leicester is looking at Graham Potter for their next manager. Solid coach and good move imo.

I do not hate it although he hasn’t done horrible against LFC, it doesnt seem like he’ll bring United back to where they used to be.
