I don't watch hockey. But the Panthers are pulling off a pretty gnarly chokejob.

Could be one of the greatest championship collapses in all of sports

No real injuries that we know about. Panthers got to this point with great defense and goaltending and the Oilers have broken through the last three games/Florida has frozen. It's hard to pinpoint one exact reason. My guess is that game 4 they came out unfocused (let in 8 goals) and that has led to great pressure in games 5 & 6 that made them play uptight. Oilers deserve credit too for waking up and playing much better hockey.

Game 7 should be awesome. If Oilers score the first goal again, that could be it for the Panthers confidence.

I think McDavid will still get excessive press in 3 years; Crosby still gets more press than he deserves at 36 years old. I agree that Bedard will steal some of McDavid's press; he's the next Canadian "generational talent" hockey media pleasures themselves to. (Bedard is already generally disliked by fans because of the press he already gets.)

Before this series even started, hockey media was already spinning "should McDavid win the Conn Smythe even if the Oilers lose the series?" I wouldn't be surprised if McDavid already won the Conn Smythe regardless of tonight's outcome.
