USC is playing this Saturday at 9AM

Don’t agree it’s it’s the best time slot for Viewership considering more games are on at noon. But I do agree This is a good time to give it a test run If it’s going to happen.

More games are on at Noon, but there's never a marquee game on, unless it's on Fox, because that's how they've wanted it the last 3 years since getting right to the B1G. You have to throw away the Fox game in this scenario since it's on Fox. In a typical years, there's a couple crappy B1G games, a couple crappy ACC games, maybe one SEC game, and then G5 games. Just look back at the schedule the same week last year. You don't want to be going up against a game like UGA/UF if you're trying to maximize viewership.

And look at the slate this year, UF/UGA is on at 3:30 and ND/Clemson is on at 7:30. Fox making this their Noon game is absolutely the right decision to try and maximize viewership. They've built their whole marketing campaign around having the best Noon game. And it usually delivers as far as ratings.

So the plan would be for the PAC to play their marquee game at 9am west coast time? Not this week, theyve got Stanford and Oregon going up against ND/Clemson in that 7:30 time slot.

Again I understand your point but a 9am west coast game seems harsh. Regardless It’ll probably give them a ton more viewers out East.

The networks decide which games are broadcast on their networks and then based on that Fox will put it's best game at Noon and ABC will put it's best game in primetime. P12 doesn't get a say in it, although I'm sure Fox ran it by the P12. The Oregon/Stanford game is the best game on ABC/ESPN this weekend, thus it's in primetime. Fox made a decision to puts it's best game at Noon, after it's Pregame show. Or at least the game they figured would get the best ratings.

Feel bad for SC but it actually works for me since I live in VA.. will be switching back and forth with the UT/WV game during commercial breaks

That's a tad early for day drinking. But if I just stay up Friday night then it will technically be "still drinking" and not "started drinking" so it is socially acceptable. :suds:

And that was in non-Covid times. We are just happy there’s football, give me a game at 6am and I’m in.

That’s for amateurs, pros do 1/2 OJ, 1/2 champagne, 1/2 vodka.

So you crack open your first beer at around 8 am with some eggs and bacon...seems legit

Game is on Fox. Honestly this is that best year to do it, with little to no fans. Give it a test run and see how the players respond.

As far as the TV scheduling aspect goes, getting on at Noon ET, is a MUCH better time slot than playing at 3:30 ET, or 8:00 ET, then anything after that you're getting very little viewership.

Exactly.

The PAC has been trying to figure out how to get more eyes on its games for years. That's partially what "PAC After Dark" was about.

I think the idea of having USC play the game that will be on at noon Eastern is because USC is the "name" school that will get folks watching. Then maybe they decide to check out some of the other PAC games.

Don't know if it will work, but its better than sticking with the status quo which isn't working. Plus, as you mention, with little to no fans, they don't have to worry as much about the difference. If it works, they can continue to do it in the future and fans will have time to adjust for next year.

If they only could be winning consistently.. Oregon just doesn't have that cache that SC has.. When they were rolling people tuned in for the late kickoffs vs Fresno St lol. I had DirectTV with a tivo in my apt back then.. Once I got home around 3am in a drunken stooper, I would watch the game off it.

Everyone would be talking about it, despite being on so late back then. Crazy how winning consistently can get people wanting to watch, no matter what time the KO is.
