To be fair, considering that Michigan lost their HC and some of their staff, their starting QB and bunch of other guys to the portal, being ranked in the top 10 likely had more to do with them being defending national champs than their current staff and players.

That's a shit ton of turnover. They'll likely improve as the season plays out. Just hoping that doesn't happen until after September 21st.

The offense is legit bad, I don’t see that getting much better, at this point it doesn’t even matter who the QB is because the WRs are that bad.

Thank you for a reasonable take.

The reality is, I'd be pissed at Harbaugh had he not won us a national title because he really left us with nothing left on offense; he flirted with the NFL for 3 straight off seasons, which killed our recruiting every single time and no skill players committed to us. We banked everything on 2023, won it, everyone left and now we're left with a walkon QB and the hope that we hit on the true freshman that's probably going to redshirt this year. And I honestly, I think Harbaugh was gone in 2022 if the core group that came back (JJ/Corum) left in 2022. NCAA investigation or not, this year was looking rough from a recruiting perspective as soon as we lost out on Dante Moore and followed that by losing Lloyd's grandson to Notre Dame. Even last year, had JJ not come back we were screwed. The guys currently starting would have been it.

We don't seem to have a single player left on offense that can take control of a game and win it. Bunch of supporting pieces leftover trying to form a competitive offense. I think what we can hope for is that the just play mistake free and hit the things we're currently missing. We had a couple plays against Texas where if we just complete them, they're touchdowns. One we overthrew, the other our WR ran the wrong route.

Were you crying while you typed this?

If Karma for winning a national title is having an average year, count me right in. My team is the current national champion. Georgia repeating in 2022 because you lucked out and skipped Bama. We saw what happened last year when you had a play a team that wasn’t Tennessee state.

Michigans program is built on midwestern values, integrity and an enthusiasm unknown to mankind. Makes sense why that’s confusing to you.

Our current status is related to missing out on QBs two classes in a row. The end.
Why would I be crying? As I clearly pointed out, when you made an excuse that losing players and coaches was a reason that you now suck, I pointed out that real programs that aren't built on a foundation of lies and cheating can lose more players than you did, and coaches, and still win. When you have a cheating culture, you are going to see a lousy program, as we are now seeing.

We played back-to-back and then lost a single game last year, which kept us out of the CFP. You were lucky you avoided us, that's for sure. As for the crack about us playing TSU, the last time we played your team, we beat the shit out of you, lol—so a nice try, but a swing and a miss.

Your program may have once been built on such values and principles, but you lost those principles because you hadn't won a true NC in 70 years. You resorted to cheating. If you are happy with that, that says a lot about you. And if you are so glad to win a single NC and then be irrelevant, that's also a sad outlook. So, congrats.

Your current status is because you are cheaters and have no culture to build around.

That's what happens when you have a cheating coaching staff - it kills the culture, and your current cheating HC won't be able to rebuild that. Maybe your next HC can.

No man, that's what happens when you have a head coach the media thinks is gone to the NFL for 3 straight signings days.

Excuses? It's called reality. You didn't see me making any pre-season predictions this off season because based on recruiting and the roster, I had an idea what this might look like. We aren't georgia or Ohio State or alabama. We don't have 30 five stars on the roster. We had like 3 last year on the roster, we hit basically on 2 recruiting classes that won us a national title and almost all of that left. Defense still had some talent based on the classes we pulled in but we had just extremely poor offensive recruiting.

We would have beat georgia just like Alabama did. We'll never know because, unlike Michigan, your team lost. Georgia played one legitimate team last season with an extremely easy schedule, and lost it.

Current status -- national champions.

You admit you aren't a top team. You caught lightning in a bottle with your cheating ways for three years, and you have nothing to back it up. Good teams with great coaches and a great culture don't have that happen to them.

Current status, NCs and just got their ass whipped at home. More to follow.

We are not a top recruiting team compared to teams like Georgia, Alabama and Ohio State. Haven't been. We're in the ND/PennState/Oklahoma realm. We get good classes, we get some top kids but we have to hit on the few we get or we're going to be average in that area. We don't get 20 five stars in 4 years so we're choosing which five star QB we're going with. I think we have two total on the team right now.

LSU actually had something similar happen after their title -- they hit on a transfer QB and had no one behind him. It happens. Michigan lost the best HC, best (college) QB and RB in our history all in one offseason. And then we lost like 7 defensive starters, 10 offensive starters, and almost all of our coaching staff. That's rough for any team. We're trying to break in a new coaching staff, new QB, new offensive line, entirely new WRs...all in one season. Not good.

All that and having a shit cheating culture. I mean, who wants to go to a place where their weirdo coach cheated for 3 straight years, and everyone is suspended all the time?

Well clearly, the leaders and best of the world. Culture is one of the reasons we were able to achieve a national title; a ton of players that would go pro elsewhere stayed for 2023.

Those that do the rankings knew the current staff and players weren't of the same quality as the team that won the natty. Yet they still ranked them high. Why? Same reason they do for many similar teams every year. Brand name.

Harbaugh is a great coach, but he is not a good recruiter. He is better suited for NFL or smaller schools. He is reliant on development. That is tough way to have consistency at a blue blood. I think Michigan gets better, but they need to find some play making on offense.

We had some great defensive recruiting under Harbaugh, and that's actually continuing, and he hit on JJ/Corum but man...WR recruiting has especially been rough. Who wants to come to a run-heavy offense as an elite WR?

I actually think our line will progress fine this year, and our QB actually isn't doing that poorly but he's a game manager. We just don't have any playmakers to get the ball to at the receiver position -- which is why we're leaning heavily on Loveland at TE. Teams are simply loading the box, and that's the end of our offense since we're also breaking in 4-5 new starters on the offensive line.

We're going to have to hit the portal hard this year (along with recruiting skill players) if we want to see some serious improvement next season. Our best position is RB but they're going to struggle all year against loaded boxes.

The attrition hurts, but I'm more worried about the identity or lack thereof on offense right now. It feels like they're trying to run the 2023 playbook again, but they clearly don't have the personnel for it. There's no creativity with the running game or passing game right now, and they've been keeping their best RB off the field (Mullings). Michigan should be running a lot of split back formations to keep defenses on their toes, Mullings should be running up the gut not freaking Donovan Edwards. Get Edwards more involved in the passing game, especially with the poor WR play. As for Orji, that's fine if you don't think Orji is a viable QB, but find a way to get him more involved in a TE/RB role. It's pretty fucking obvious what they're going to do when Orji suddenly appears as a QB.

Well...that's exactly what they're doing lol. And we didn't used to have much creativity either; other than the occasional flea flicker.

They have run some plays that had schemed guys wide open, but on one of those Warren overthrew the WR and on the other, the WR ran the wrong route.

I think Mullings or even Hall finishes the year as the starter. I think they should use Edwards as a permanent slot receiver. But they're going to need to get creative to find talent at the receiver spot. Like I said, teams are just going to load the box and make us beat them on the ground (which we used to be able to do but can't this year starting an entirely new offense top to bottom).

I hate the two QB thing. If Orji can't pass, keep him out of the game. If he's an elite athlete? Hell, make him a a huge outside wideout. IMO I don't want to see another QB come in unless its' Jadyn Davis at this point but I don't want to break Davis either by throwing him to the wolves.

No, if you had a winning culture, you would be in the hunt this year, and clearly, you aren't. No, if you had a winning culture your coaching staff wouldn't have been suspended with show causes such that they can't coach in college football for a long time. No, if you had a winning culture, you would have been able to land a top HC with experience instead of promoting someone who deleted texts in the middle of the investigation. No, if you had a winning culture, you wouldn't have a President who backed an obviously guilty HC. No, if you had a winning culture, you wouldn't have asked the coach who just got suspended to be the honorary captain for your first game. You won your first undisputed NC in 70+ years because you cheated your asses off for 3 years. And now it's biting you in the ass - karma is a bitch.

So Georgia didn’t have a winning culture last year?

You just going to post nonsense now?
