They are more than happy to stay at FCS. I’m also curious if the Montana and Dakota schools have any interest in moving up.
I don’t think it is hard at all with Idaho. They’ve jumped up a couple of times and found that is it a lot more financially rewarding if they stay in the FCS. Not sure about the others but for sure Sac State is. Reportedly they have some donors who want to pony up the money to get up to the FBS, especially to fill the void of Fresno leaving so it’d be just them and San Jose State.FCS to FBS interest is sometimes hard to track down, but I read that some of the schools possibly interested in moving up to the FBS include: Eastern Kentucky, Sacramento State, Austin Peay, North Alabama, Central Arkansas, Stephen F Austin, Southern Utah, Utah Tech, Abilene Christian, Tarleton State, and Texas Rio Grande Valley. And there's probably others that I haven't read about.
Not gonna happen unless Montana and Montana St. move too.I would like to see Idaho come back to FBS
Eh, that's only true if you're comparing being in the Big Sky to being FBS Indy or in the Sun Belt.I don’t think it is hard at all with Idaho. They’ve jumped up a couple of times and found that is it a lot more financially rewarding if they stay in the FCS.
Move up? Hell, many of “us” need to move down…or start a separate division. Damn few in the group of five can compete with the biggies on a regular basis. Hell, some of the P4 can’t either.FCS to FBS interest is sometimes hard to track down, but I read that some of the schools possibly interested in moving up to the FBS include: Eastern Kentucky, Sacramento State, Austin Peay, North Alabama, Central Arkansas, Stephen F Austin, Southern Utah, Utah Tech, Abilene Christian, Tarleton State, and Texas Rio Grande Valley. Correct me if I’m wrong then what has changed from when you guys dropped down? I’d love for you guys to come back us so we can schedule you every year again but I just don’t see it. Ideally you, the Montana’s and Dakota’s would all be in the same league as Wyoming, Air Force and Colorado State.Eh, that's only true if you're comparing being in the Big Sky to being FBS Indy or in the Sun Belt.
Idaho as a full member in a western FBS conference is going to bring in more $ than if they're in the Big Sky. Maybe not by a huge margin, but it's gonna be more.
Even lower end MWC schools take in more athletic department revenue than the best FCS schools.
NDSU and Montana St. brought in ~ $30 mil last year and UNR was something like $50 mil even with a god awful football team.

I know we play next year. Didn’t know it was every year, are we suppose to cross the border or you guys just playing in Pullman every year?1. New, competent President
2. The new AD killed it with hiring Eck
That's basically it.
Eck is probably the best coach at the FCS level right now and he'll be gone as soon as his son graduates, maybe sooner.
Pretty sure moving forward we play every other year through 2030 or something.
It's every OTHER year. So 2025, 2027, and 2029 is what I've seen.I know we play next year. Didn’t know it was every year, are we suppose to cross the border or you guys just playing in Pullman every year?
Well we just hired her so doubt that will happen. I wouldn’t mind playing in Moscow, I remember hearing stories of the old rivalry where if the road team lost they had to walk home. No idea if that is true or notIt's every OTHER year. So 2025, 2027, and 2029 is what I've seen.
Definitely in Pullman. You'd have to fire your AD for sending your FBS squad to play on the road against an FCS team. Only Idaho lets their AD schedule retarded shit like that.
That definitely happened. Before my time but it did.Well we just hired her so doubt that will happen. I wouldn’t mind playing in Moscow, I remember hearing stories of the old rivalry where if the road team lost they had to walk home. No idea if that is true or not
Need to bring that back then. Would be one heck of a mini reality show ending with what an hour to an hour and half walk or soThat definitely happened. Before my time but it did.
If MWC wants them they would likely pay that fee from the money they get from the PacNot gonna happen unless Montana and Montana St. move too.
And I doubt that happens if they'd be moving up to a MWC that is hemorrhaging members.
$5 mil cost of moving up also isn't helping things.
IMO that would be kind of foolish. I wanting them but if the MWC were to try to grab the Montana’s and Dakota’s they’d be basically bringing them up and making them the marquee teams. The only football team left is Utah State (UNLV is coming to the Pac) Sure they are well run FCS programs but it just seems like if teams move up you don’t want them as your flagship teams. If MWC wants them they would likely pay that fee from the money they get from the Pac
last i knew each MWC school owes like 17 million plus the Pac owes the MWC 10 or so for each school. so in the long run paying the 5 per FCS school is basically paid for by 1 of these MWC to Pac movements.IMO that would be kind of foolish. No, I totally get that the MWC. Just IMO it would be foolish because of what I said. Those 4 would basically be the flagship of that conference along with Utah State. If I were the MWC I’d be going after those Texas school ASAP. Buyout isn’t big and they can use that money to subsidize themselves since in theory their new media deal is going to be a lot less than they anticipated.last i knew each MWC school owes like 17 million plus the Pac owes the MWC 10 or so for each school. so in the long run paying the 5 per FCS school is basically paid for by 1 of these MWC to Pac movements.
Wondering why Texas State hasn’t accepted yet then. The MWC still needs one more team to be a recognized conference.Looks like UTEP to MWC official as well as All other sports Gonzaga to Pac 12
