R.I.P Florida - St Pete

I already said that about a page ago.

The cone is the cone. It's a margin of error.

But you're the expert, not NOAA.
oh fuck off. I’m watching local news in Tampa no less that’s literally saying it’s going to make landfall in Manatee County.

They so fucked.

RIP.

Tampa is heavily in the current cone. I literally just showed you the NOAA 6pm update.
And I’m telling you the landfall will be south of Tampa. That’s what they’re literally saying IN TAMPA. I’m also watching the radar.

The good news is the eyewall has completely collapsed.

They're only finding flight level winds of appx 70 mph, 30 miles in diameter.Screenshot_20241009_174501_Chrome.jpg

I will say this, there are way more tornadoes from this than I can remember. And most of them were larger than normal (they’re usually EF0 but the ones on camera today were much bigger and faster then usual)

Saw some video earlier of one that was basically a wedge tornado. Possible an EF3.

Surge, inland flooding, and power outages look to be the biggest problems.

They just said landfall could be between longboat key and Venice but because the northern eyewall is where the worst weather is the high wind warnings are all up in Manatee, Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties. The western eye wall is pretty strong too though.

TECO 45,000 outages

Duke 50,000 outages

FPL 8,000 outages.

How’s my boy who literally lives on Tampa Bay, just south of downtown?

Hillsborough County getting some wind but will miss the worst storm surge. Could still get 6-9 feet.

If the eye passes south of Tampa Bay and all local news is saying it will the worst storm surge will be Sarasota and Charlotte County and Ft. Myers.

Gee, even the most wonderful place on earth isn't going to squeeze pennies out of people?
Whenever they do close for these they stay open as long as humanly possible. There’s always YouTube videos of people enjoying the completely empty park right up until they’re ushered out.

No love for Disney. Serious question...have they ever opened their doors to people who have been displaced by storms?

Interesting to see the impact on housing and structures designs after this.
Eh. They were revamped in the 90’s after Hurricane Andrew. Anything built after 1995 can withstand pretty much everything but a cat 4 or 5.

Not one of the Florida people on here have said anything about moving out of Florida.
