WK 7 LOLses

Michigan is NOWHERE NEAR, where Ohio is recruiting wise. Prior to adding Oregon and USC -- you could have combined every school's recruiting class in the B1G and Ohio would still have more talent.

I'm not pounding my chest saying Michigan is an elite program. Michigan is a 2nd tier program and not even one of the top 2nd tier programs.

Michigan needed the star to align, have a Covid year to give guys an extra year, have a 1st round NFL pick at QB for the first time since Harbaugh, while others had new QBs to win a title.

If Michigan were pulling in top 5 recruiting classes every year. I would absolutely be calling for heads if Michigan was getting pounded by other top 5 schools every game.

I knew you'd come back with that, so I was prepared.

Ryan Day is 1-7 against Top 5 teams (your own words).

He's only lost a total of 9 games in his entire tenure (6 years).
So he's 96.7% against teams not ranked in the Top 5?
The two losses to teams that weren't Top 5 both finished the season ranked in the Top 25. One of those finished in the Top 10.

I think that's winning like an elite program should.

LMFAO @ you.

What happen to all the sunshine pumping in the offseason about how Michigan was going to have no drop off at all because of that great "culture"? Lmao
Show me where I said there'd be no drop off. You won't find it. I said Michigan fans can't say anything because we don't even know what we will have on offense, as we lost the entire offensive line, every wide receiver, the QB and the top RB.

I can say without question -- I, never in a million years, would think we would be as bad as we are on offense. 12 turnovers already. TWELVE. I think that is more than we had in the last 2 years combined already in half a season.

We do not have a QB who can throw a forward pass.

Depends what you consider elite. Are they are top 5 program? Not if you see how they fare against top 5 opponents. Are they a top 10 team? Absolutely. I don't consider top 10 elite. I consider it the top of the 2nd tier.

Do they recruit like a top 5 team? ABSOLUTELY.

I can't remember if it was you or not but one of you were acting like you were going to have no drop off on the OL because supposedly the OL rotated like hockey lines. It was probably MnB though.

Other top teams have lost a lot before though and didn't turn into a low level MAC offense.

Harbaugh bailed on y'all and left the cupboard bare along with sticking you with a guy whos in way over his head as a head coach. The mediocre overall recruiting is finally rearing it's head.

Ohio -- with their recruiting, they should ABSOLUTELY DOMINATE the B1G (before the expansion). It shouldn't even be close. They aren't in the SEC where there are numerous teams consistently bringing in top 5 and top 10 classes each and every year.

So what Day is doing is the bare minimum. It is great he can beat up on the teams he is VASTLY more talented than. When you lose to all the teams who are comparable -- it doesn't make you elite.

Day is "good enough" but like I said he's not a championship level coach, he might be able to win the B1G but he isn't winning the playoff for the national title.

In this new climate colleges have to shift how they think when it comes to stuff like this. Winning 10/11 games a year even if you didn't win the national title was acceptable pre playoff, but now winning 10/11 games a year and getting bounced early in the playoff should be considered disappointing for the upper level programs. It seems insane but with how the landscaped has changed that's how it is.

Could you fire Day and end up with a total dud? Absolutely, but at some point you have to take the risk if you want to win the grand prize.

A 1 point loss to a Top 5 team on the road?

OMG the tragedy.

Of those 7 Top 5 losses.......

2023 Michigan finished undefeated #1
2022 Georgia finished undefeated #1
2020 Alabama finished undefeated #1
2019 Clemson finished #2 with their loss to #1 LSU

So 4 of the 7 Top 5 losses were to teams that finished the season undefeated #1?
You can't be serious.

I missed his loss to unranked Purdue in his first full season (2018). But the difference on his winning percentage against teams outside of the Top 5 would be negligible.

That was Urban who lost that game, to be fair to Day

That was Urban's final year as HC.

DERRRR

That's why I didn't count it. LOL

So Ryan Day's only two losses outside of the Top 5 were to ranked opponents, and one of those two was to a Top 10 opponent, like I originally said.

At some point he has to start winning some of these games though. He's not exactly inspiring confidence that he can do that.

That's what I figured. I was born in '91

Same here

I see you have taken on the identity of the Ohio fans and have come up with your own list of excuses now. I think Day is a great coach, as long as he isn't playing a team with any talent.

Again -- no team in the B1G prior to expansion recruits anywhere close to Ohio. Michigan is #2 in the B1G in recruiting and we aren't anywhere near their level recruiting.

When he faces a team at their level -- they lose. You are talking about this past weeks game like it was an anomaly. This has turned into the norm for Ohio under Day.

I guess it's better than the new Michigan norm under Cryin Sherrone.

Sherrone has a national championship ring, but tell us more about beating all the teams you should.:beer2:

Coach Gundy found a way to lose during the bye week. While Okie St was off, he was at his ranch and a cow headbutted him and jacked up his eye. :pound:

He had to skip his coaches presser today because of it.

Oregons roster is all 4-5* guys.

When the talent level is similar like we saw Saturday, it comes down to coaching/execution
