Movie Alien 7: Romulus (2024)

there's been 7 of these? is this counting the AvP stuff?

No. 2 Prequals and 4 original Alien movies with Sigorney Weaver. Now this is 7th.
I'll watch, looking back, I've seen all 6 before. I'll be lost.

Watched.

It was good. It fit nicely within the timeline and I felt satisfied. The space shots were fantastic.

Ok now here are the
Weyland Yutani figured out where the Nostromo exploded and where Ripley blew the Alien out of the airlock. They fetched the Alien for its DNA but it had secreted resin and made a protective cocoon. They get DNA and reverse engineer back to the black goo seen in Promethius. This is the tie in to the prequals, but it is insignificant other than just showing the black goo is the essential origin. I would imagine a 3rd prequel with David perfecting his experiment into the Xenomorph we all know and love.

As usual, the damn things get loose and take over the space station which goes dark and drifts through space until noticed by some teens that figure on raiding the huge station for cryo tube's and coolant so they can go to a different planet than the one that the station is about to crash into.

You pretty much know the rest. Teens spend most of the movie trying to GTF outta there. The usual Big Baddies and Facehuggers here and there to avoid (and sometimes NOT able to avoid). Yadda Yadda.

Some goo is injected into a pregnant teen and what comes out is what looks like a half engineer and half Xenomorph. Quite gnarly. And it isn't friendly.

I liked it better than anything since Alien3 - which, BTW has a VERY GOOD Directors Cut.
How does it compare to Aliens 2 which is my favorite out of all of them.

I rate Romulus before Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection, but behind Alien 3 Director's Cut.

Alien/Aliens hold spots 1 and 2 easily. The Alien 3 Directors Cut.
Romulus
Alien 3 vanilla
Resurrection.

FWIW, this new movie is supposedly set in the timeframe between Alien and Aliens
clicked on this thread because i knew someone mentioned it. just turned it on and wanted to know where in the timeline we were.

It's turned into like the Halloween movies, or Fast and Furious.
Just crank those out.

But I'll have to see it.
yet we still don't have an alien movie with the fucking space jockeys.

24 minutes in, show me a fucking alien already.
just a shade under 40 minutes. the movie wasn't grabbing me, so i went to wiki to catch up on what I may have missed and...

After her original work contract is forcibly extended by Weyland-Yutani, Rain's ex-boyfriend Tyler persuades her to join an expedition with his pregnant sister Kay, their cousin Bjorn (the father of Kay's baby),

wait, what?

just got to the Ian Holm CGI (Fucking terribly done)

80 minutes in and we finally get a non face hugger (went to a really cool set about 75 in, was hoping business was about to pick up).

Well dang! I'll watch it, but I won't worry about trips to the beer fridge.
i got off the clock at 1430, well, had a meeting that was supposed to be short but eventually went a little over end time, but started on some wine right after, hence posting as I'm watching. took 2 minutes out to beat @Guy Incognito at some trivia, but that's par for the course.

honestly, it's mostly boring. they might have a cool minute sequence after 40 minutes, but then back to boring. i don't care about your relationship with your fucking android brother.

Enjoyed this movie as someone who didnt grow up on the originals
