Raiders trade DaVante Adams to the Jets

Give up a 1st and 2nd rounder and a bunch of money for a receiver to play with his close friend at QB. Immediately trade said QB at the end of the season and then trade the receiver for a 3rd round pick after two seasons.

I love being a Raiders fan. Fuck you Dad (I love him but damn him for making me like this team)
According to spotrac.com, the Raiders get a conditional third round pick AND get to retain about $30 million in dead cap!

Only becomes a 2nd round pick if Adams is picked all-pro, or if he's on the roster for the AFC Championship game and/or Super Bowl. I think it's pretty clear the Jets won this trade.

And the Jets have no dead cap if they exercise that "out" after this year.

That's a beautiful ramification of this entire Jets saga. Jets blow their load on Rodgers, but get basically nothing more than they got out of Zach Wilson for their troubles. They ruined Zach. They ruined Saleh. They're now bringing in Davante who may not be a Jet after this season because he's still owed over $36M/y on his contract for two more years. ...all while making their best young WR about to request a trade because he's not part of the "Aaron Boys".

He's way better than Wilson.

You could argue that if they had kept Darnold that they'd be in the same place right now and I would.

But football GMs and owners always give the QB all the credit (and blame).

Football trades are like changing your motor oil. It's hard to tell how much you gain or lose.

Unless it's like Ricky Williams magnitude

I'm not disagreeing that Adams is better than Wilson right now; I'm pointing out that the Jets are potentially sacrificing a 24 year old top-10-pick WR on his rookie deal who still has a lot of proficiency growth potential for a 31-year-old buddy of a 40-year-old QB.

I was talking about Zach Wilson.

If Garrett Wilson isn't better than Adams, then ... the Jets aren't going anywhere.

Basically it's the NY Mets philosophy of throwing money at old vets around 'some' young talent and hoping shit floats.

Jets should take a lesson from the 2024 Mets. Maybe make the playoffs for the 1st time in 15 years before you start talking about Superbowls...

If I am G. Wilson.
I am looking for a way out of New York.
he definitely should have his agent requesting a trade right now.

well that is the sticking point.
If the jets dont redo his contract, this trade will be for this year only.
No way they pay 35+ mil a yr. For the next two years.
So if Adams doesnt want to negotiate. he will be onto another team next year.

This trade is perfect for his scenario. the Jets. TBD.

The Raiders. it simple. They are getting a 3rd & they are now done with him.

He hasn't really done anything yet.

The whole premise of Garrett Wilson being a star is that Zach Wilson such a horrible QB that if he put up decent #s despite the fact, he must be Jerry Rice.

Rodgers has been OK.

If I'm Garrett Wilson, I'm looking for a trade out of New York immediately after this season, not right now. The Jets are going down in flames when this Rodgers experiment officially fails, but I'd want to ride out the rest of this season to try to absorb some of Davante's on-field proficiency first. I damn sure wouldn't want to be stranded on that flaming wreckage - believing that if I was on a different team I could be Justin Jefferson.

Dumbass Jets doesnt realize that its not the recievers,Lazard,Wilson and Conklin, its Rodgers and that suspect oline......

Rodgers is getting hit hard out there and he too old to keep getting hit like that......shouldve trade for a lineman.

Someone is gonna be left out of that wr group........betting its not Adams.

Yep, exactly.

At the end of last night's game, they showed Rodgers sitting on the bench, just sitting there in deep contemplation, and I'm guessing it might have been that moment, that it dawned upon him that he was so unbelievably spoiled to be protected by above average to very good (if not excellent) offensive lines during all his years in Green Bay. Now he's feeling the effects of playing behind a shitty offensive line and he's not faring so well lol.

nah, he was probably wondering if he was targeted by chemtrails earlier in the day.

This was all on McDumbass and not wanting Carr...

Telesco simply decided to trade him where he wanted to go....he probably could have received a guaranteed 2nd rounder if he ate some of his salary but he didn't want to do that. And I do not blame him for that.

Part of this is on AP for liking that stupid Tweet or whatever it was.....that is going to piss off your best player.....he may be a better DC than HC. He started well last season but if they continue to suck (and it's looking like we win 6 or 7 games) fire him and go get Vrabel or Carroll.

The 3rd could turn into a 2nd but reading the conditions it's unlikely,

We were going in the right direction and then Gruden gets fired and replaced with McDumbass......Biasaccia might have been the right guy if they kept him....

No guaranteed money after this season.

Wilson was crying about touches the first few weeks. This should help…
Adams is going to get so much attention Wilson will be wide open on some plays. Rodgers finds him Wilson could benefit from this greatly....

Not to mention Adams can help the Jets receivers with their route running,

Adams is past his prime physically, but he is still one of the best in the league at reading defenses, running precise routes, controlling and manipulating body contact, actually catching the ball when thrown to him, blocking, etc... a lot of those details of excellence that don't necessarily show up on stat sheets. I think he's still got a couple productive years left in him*.

EDIT: * if used the right way.
Exactly. And it could be argued he is not past his prime....2 seasons he had over 100 catches but Carr was released and since he has not had a legit QB, Still managed a good season last year,
