ACC Basketball

about to head to Greensboro for Wake/Michigan

c'mon DEACS

Grats on the nice win. That'll be a huge one come selection Sunday. With what's going on at UF, I think you'll take that one too.

Thanks. Wasn't really worried when Deacs were down big early because Michigan's shot making wasn't sustainable. They were hitting threes with a hand in their face. Exactly the type of defense you want to be playing. Michigan had eight of their ten made threes in the first half.

The lack of three point shot making from Deacs is still mind blowing. Proven three point shooters are missing wide open looks. It's annoying.

Yeah, Michigan reverted back to the mean in the 2nd half in terms of shooting. Didn't think it was sustainable either.

At some point Wake will start shooting better from 3. Spillers was a beast this game. Him being a capable 3 point shooter is a definite surprise. I didn't know that was part of his arsenal. Even Reid stepped out and made one. Makes up for the loss of Carr(I think that's who it was) from last year with a couple stretch bigs. This starting lineup is really dangerous. Pieces seem to fit together really well.

Spillers didn't attempt a single three last year, so this has been a pleasant surprise. When took his first three against Coppin State, I was pretty shocked. Had no idea he had a green light. His ability to hit the long ball makes him an upgrade over Carr. Much tougher and more athletic.

Juke Harris needs to start and Friedrichsen needs to go to the bench.

I also heard that Sallis has a bad hand or wrist or some shit? If that's the case that might be the reason for his slower start shooting.

Had some good buckets today

Yeah, I think he can be an upgrade over Carr too. Especially defensively, even though he's a little shorter.

Agreed on Harris. He's a definite player. I also think he's a better fit along side Sallis and Hildreth.

They ran a ton of top of the key screens for him. I thought he was really good with his decision making. His mid range game was really good today.

first time i heard this. don't think its true.

Hildreth is the one with the bad wrist and that was from last season. he never had surgery on it, either.

Makes since. I think I heard it on Sleepers media. They do a lot of CBB content, but also kinda morons if its not Big10 info.

Duke loses after Jay Williams hyped them up at halftime as the most talented Duke team since 2001

What I watched last night, nothing told me he’s definitively wrong. That team is super talented.

They got whatever shot they wanted all game. Now if they can’t make 3s all year that’s an issue

Uk get credit. Well coached vet team made plays. Duke missed bunnies. The freshman played like freshman when it mattered. Big TOs by Flagg. Kon shot selection was pretty awful all game

But as a whole I liked how they played as a team. They will be really fucking good. Even without a true point

Omaha Billew out for 8-10 weeks. That fucking sucks.

This Deacs team is bad.

Forbes' rotations are killing this team. I'm not going to pretend that I know how good Ty'Laur Johnson is, but he's legitimately the only PG on this team. even Hildreth is a better option to run the point than Sallis is. He sees the floor better.

Yeah, I actually like a lot about this Wake team. But lack of a true ball handler is tough

Difference in that half is X has 10 assists to 2 Tos. Wake has 4 assists to 9 Tos

That's wild

Wake has a lot going for them on paper. athletic on the perimeter, strong in the middle, good 3 point shooters (? it's bizarre at how bad they are right now at this), but it just hasn't come together due to the lack of a true ball handler. Johnson had the 9th best assist rate in the ACC last year. he should probably be starting. again, i'm not going to pretend I know about Forbes' roster than he does, but what he's doing right now isn't working.

sounds like Deacs are going to go with Sallis at PG. probably a condition on his return. if this is a season-long plan that they will refuse to deviate from that probably lowers Wake's ceiling.
somewhat called this.

still early, but Sallis @ PG has significantly hurt both Sallis and Hildreth. Both are trying to do way too much. neither are getting great looks on offense and are having to earn every basket.

smartest move would have been for Johnson to directly replace Boopie Miller. a downgrade, but Deacs upgraded at every other position so probably wouldn't have hurt a whole lot.

instead we have this mess. Xavier looked like a real team today, Wake did not. i expect that will continue to be the case.

God dammit, Forbes. It's hard to support a team that is perpetually on the bubble.

It's pretty interesting how they did the road trips.

I guess Stanford travels to the east coast on a Wednesday and then leaves on a Saturday. 4 times. So, they have 4 weeks essentially where they are away from home.

That's pretty brutal ... if you're an actual student.

Virginia OTOH only has to make one trip out to the west coast.

I wonder if Cal and Stanford are regretting this decision.
I figured hoops and baseball were going to be the scheduling nightmare for Cal and Stanford.
