The entire playoff committee needs to be drawn & disemboweled

Yet they are not punishing Texas, Indiana, or Penn State for such. Hell, they aren’t really even one of those two conferences teams either…. Miami. Look at their schedule.

What the ACC and B1G are both lacking are “top” teams. Their middle/bottoms are similar to middle/lower BIG and SEC teams. Some head to head meeting this year among those tell us so. Others the opposite.

Examples:

For Big12/ACC
Winless Big 12 Okie Lite beats Arkansas
Iowa State beats Iowa (Close every year lately)
North Carolina beat Minnesota

Against Big13/ACC
Nebraska just crushed Big 12 leader Colorado

However, the case against the ACC/Big 12 is at the top. I don’t think their top teams (Miami/SMU/Clem, Colorado/BYU/ASU) can beat the top teams in the B1G or SEC. Only indicator they might have a puncher’s chance is the Oregon/Boise game. But Boise may be better than the ACC or Big 12 champ.

Miami is getting punished being 8th. They are behind a 2 loss team and a ND team that lost to Northern Illinois.

Let's predict the next season CFP committee catch phrase. We have been through "game control" and "eye test".

I am going with "best sideline presence".
intentional scheduling

Looking at their resume, do you think they even deserve 8th?

No, I think they should be treated like they have at least 2 losses because the ACC refs bailed them out a couple of times, but I think they are getting thrown a bone for being in a "P4" but they are still getting bogged down for being in the ACC

TEST

Strength of schedule means nothing. With Texas, Penn State, Indiana, & Notre Dame being ranked 3-6, that's a damn joke. Greg Sankey ought to get all his schools together, tell them they're gonna play their 8 conference games, then for the other 4, require them to schedule a Conference USA, a MAC, a FCS, & a Sunbelt. Don't risk a loss vs. a P4 team, as the conference schedule is a meat grinder & losses are gonna come to everyone.

Boise a top 4 seed?! What a freakin' disgrace. Same for mighty Miami.

Quit your bitchin. It will all work out. Why even bother looking until the ccg

My view is that if A&M had played Directional Louisiana in game 1 and won we would be squarely in the playoff standings right now. As is we have 2 losses and are barely in the "first 4 out" conversation.
If you hadn't scheduled and lost to ND, you'd be in the top 12.

If you hadn't scheduled and lost to ND, you'd be in the top 12.
That's my point of that post. I see no reason to ever schedule a difficult OOC opponent if the CFP is going to pull this crap and not look at SOS.

Now, I will give the CFP some leniency since this is the first time they have been looking at 12 teams. The top 4 is usually pretty clear cut between 5-6 teams. Now you have to look at roughly the top 15-20 teams and they are going to need to figure out how to do that. And once all the CCG's are played I think there is a LOT less ambiguity. Doesn't stop us from dissecting it though with nothing else to do :dhd:
