An increased chance of injury is not any consideration at all. As long as the have the same amount of time to get properly warmed up before the game starts, the time that the game starts doesn't matter.

In short...No, injuries are NOT any part of the reason we don't have games at 8am.

Oh, and they're not being asked to play at 8am. They're being asked to play at 9am.

Playing at 8am would be damn near suicidal. :heh:

I am actually concerned for you. I have walked away from here 2-3 times before because the toxicity of here was bleeding into my personal life. Sometimes when shit is going wrong in the real world makes people go off on here. It happens to all of us.

It’s a hobby.

Wife and I are on a little mini 5 day vacation. In-laws have the kids. At the beach until Sunday then taking the ferry to Jersey and driving up to Atlantic City until Tuesday.

Admittedly I was a little intoxicated when I flipped out on you. I apologize.

An yes, I realize claiming injuries can happen more as a result of early kick times has a look of short sightedness not based on any sort of proof. Just my opinion.

Yeah, no way they would schedule games for times when they're likely to have the most eyes on screens or butts in seats.

There are plenty of eyes on the screen at 8am, before yard work takes precedence.

Don't need to.

But if you actually played a sport, you'd know that what matters is having the proper amount of time to get warmed up and prepare your body to play. The only effect the time of the game has on it is how early you have to be at the facility to prepare.

We used to have to be at the facility 3 hours before game time for home games and early enough for away games that we could get to the stadium 3 hours before game time.

That gave everyone time to get taped up, have unit meetings, get stretched out/warmed up. And yes, we had a couple of 9am games each season.

While it's not the same sport, when I coached high school basketball, there were tournaments where the first games would be at 8 am. Same deal as football, just had to get to the gym early enough to make sure the players could get warmed up.

Not nearly as many as there are at noon when all of the other shit is done.

When I lived in Florida, one of the things I liked compared to California is that the first games didn't start until noon. That gave me plenty of time to get shit done before the games started. Pretty sure I wasn't the only one doing that.

Here in California, because the noon games back East are at 9am PST, I have to look through the game schedule to try to plan stuff that I need to get done around the games that I most want to watch. Pretty sure I'm not the only one doing that.

So yes, time of day very much effects viewership. It's also why networks and sports leagues try to schedule their marquee games during the "sweet spot" between 5-7pm PST. It's late enough for the people out west to get home from work and early enough that people back east are less likely to go to bed before the game is over.

There is a huge difference between playing basketball and playing football physically. Honestly if you can’t see that then there is no reason to continue this discussion.

Just as an argument can be made there is a difference between playing at noon and at night.

No argument on that, but yOU are going up against far less competition for eyes earlier at that time of the morning.

We aren’t talking about noon, we are talking about 8/9am.

Pretty sure they aren’t scheduling games for later so people can get stuff down around the house.

I have no argument with that last paragraph. I’m arguing why 9am current to the teams playing don’t happen. (Until now) It’s not one singular reason, but to dismiss injuries as a reason and then prop up errands around the house is total BS.

It absolutely does change. The physicality in basketball (while there) is far less then football. You can literally play anytime of the day as they have with ESPN’s 24 hours of college basketball Around thanksgiving.

They are scheduling things based on when people are most likely to be watching. The time an event is scheduled is determined by when they will have the most viewership.

Advertisers spend millions on determining the best times to run their commercials and the amount they pay to air those commercials is significantly more after noon than in the morning or late at night, because there are far more viewers after noon than before.

It's also why the marquee games are played at the times they are.

Bullshit, Michigan State @ Michigan was a noon game and that was the best game of the weekend.

Marque games are played all over.

You‘d think if they were truly worried about viewers they'd schedule during a time slot with no one. I’m not talking marque game but any game. But they don’t so people get errands done? GMB
