USC is playing this Saturday at 9AM

It absolutely does change. The physicality in basketball (while there) is far less then football.

Again, as far as taking the time to get warmed up and prepared to play, there is no difference.

Additionally, basketball has it's own injuries that are seen more in basketball. Particularly things like pulled muscles, strained tendons, etc. As long as players have time to stretch and get warmed up, they are at no greater risk of suffering those injuries at one time of day than any other.

By the same token, if they do not take the time to warm up and prepare to play, they are more likely to suffer an injury regardless of the time the game is played.

Id argue basketball is a sport you can get up and within an hour of being up play.

Football is not.

Of course stretching is important in all sports.

But again I don’t see football players waking up an hour before kickoff and being able to play like I’d see with basketball.

Marque games are played all over.

No they aren't. They are played at times when there will be the most viewers. It's why the times that those games are scheduled is referred to as "prime time".

If the USC/ASU game tomorrow were USC/Oregon, you can bet that game would not be scheduled for 9am. It would be scheduled for noon or later because it would be one of the marquee games.

Michigan/Ohio state is at noon

Oklahoma/Texas is at noon

Not all marque games are at 3:30 or night just as not all shitty games are at noon.

An yes I could bet it’d be at noon (usc/Oregon). FOx has stated the want their noon game to be their big game.

I just wanna say RIP to all those playing this game this weekend. I've seen pee wee football played at 8am. The kids are taken to the hospital by the bus loads.

And?

Again, it's about having the time to get ready to play. As I pointed out earlier, it's just about getting to the venue early enough to have the time to get ready to play.

When I played, it was 6am for 9am game and 9am for a noon game. All of the routines, etc. were the exact same.

And getting up early enough to get to the facility by 6am is not any kind of a big deal. Players are often in the weight rooms by 6am during the season and at the beginning of training camp when teams are having 2-a-days, they'd often start practice by 6-7am because that's usually in the summer and it's cooler in the morning.

Comparing peewee football to division 1 college football lol.

Bandwagon fans are always so knowledgeabl.

I literally said that marquee games are played at noon or later.

You know what time those games aren't played...9am. Because that would be 6am here which means they wouldn't get near as much of the West Coast audience.

Who compared Pee Wee football to college football?

Edit: nevermind, saw it.

And that’s why you see early basketball games. A basketball player doesn’t have to deal with the physicality a football player does because of the sport. I’d argue you need to be more awake for football then you do for basketball.

Weightlifting and practicing are two vastly different things then playing tackle football full stem. Unless you think teams are scrimmaging like a game at 8am?

Yeah, I did miss that last sentence.

I mean that’s literally the whole day you are arguing is prime time Save the morning.

I just disagree it has nothing to do with injuries. I think that is part why we don’t see 9am. If it was just about eyes, why hasn’t any east coast teams (not marque) played games at 9am. Their is virtually nothing on unless you like Korean baseball or european soccer.

I’ll admit that I have watched almost zero Hawaii games but do they never play noon pacific time games in conference? Because they would be playing at 9am their time and would give us a data set to look at for injuries.

Not sure, it’s a good question. This year they don’t play before 1:00pm the time Of the place they are playing. But it’s just this year. Not sure on years past.

I know they had a noon game EST against Michigan a couple of years ago a week after the played in Australia.

For college football, primetime is basically noon to 5, maybe 6pm. You start getting past 6pm and people back east are going to bed before the game is over. Schedule earlier than noon and you lose some viewership from the west.

Because college football is so popular and because you can have quite a few marquee games, some minor sacrifices have to be made. For example, the teams you mentioned playing at noon. Those games start at 9am here. They'd no doubt prefer to schedule them later because, while they aren't going to lose addicts like me, they will lose a lot of the more casual fans who would be watching because of the names of the teams playing. But they would then bleed over into the later marquee games and likely cause some negative impact om those games viewership.

The whole process of scheduling all of that and making those decisions is incredibly complicated. I've looked into it enough to know that I'm really, really glad that I don't do that for a living.

lol. bandwagon fan

But if it’s all about viewers, why don’t they have 9am games. At least with 9am games yyyou get some eyes you may not have gotten if they are on at noon.
