Day's issue is. He thinks his team is physical and they aren't. Michigan won today because they were way more physical than Ohio. It is why Michigan fans have said for a few years we love Ryan Day.
If you controller the line of scrimmage on each side, you win the Michigan Ohio game. 23 straight years, the team with the most rushing yards have won the game
I had the '95 and '96 games on my mind (granted I was little), but man I didn't think they'd pull this off. Obviously required some less than stellar playcalling from Day and Kelly. Hell of an effort from Mullings and the defense, Wink coached a hell of a game defensively. It feels like OSU abandons their offensive identity and are so determined to play manball against Michigan, like just stick to running outside and throwing to the perimeter. But hey, I'm all for Day trying to prove he's tough again.
Hail to the fucking Victors.
I don't disagree. Howard's biggest problem is -- he doesn't have the arm to make the downfield throws. It is his biggest weakness.Honestly, I think OSU would have won today if they stuck to their passing attack like they had in 2018-2021 (I know they lost in 2021, but I think that's the kind of offense that could have won today). Just felt like they were lighting downs on fire with the running game, especially up the middle.

Michigan could keep their safeties up because of that, clogging the throwing lanes. Having the ability to throw deep opens everything up, especially if you run the ball.
I think if Ohio had McCord today -- they would have absolutely torched our secondary. We had Makari Page playing man coverage on Emeka Egbuka -- Ohio still couldn't get him the ball.
LOL ok, you lost it as soon as you said McCord. He's fucking awful. You guys torch us if you had McCord or any WB who can push the ball downfield. Your only advantage on offense was at WR and Howard couldn't take advantage of it and even gave Michigan a TD as well.
Howard doesn't force defenses to move off the line of scrimmage. Michigan wasn't worried about Ohio throwing it deep. So we could use our safeties to help with the run or double a WR.
Inexcusable for Michigan to beat you guys this year. It is a shame if you fire Ryan Day. We love that guy.

As much as I hate to say it, Day lost us this game. I know Kelly was calling the plays but my god, Howard was working the michigan secondary. Literally his only bad throws were the two picks. But we kept trying to force the run because Day wanted to establish it like a fucking moron. When he just let Howard do his thing we repeatedly moved the ball, but at the end of the day we didn't win and we didn't deserve to. Congrats to Moore, this is going to keep him there for a long time.
On to the CFP.
If we had McCord playing today, with as much as we saw Howard running, you guys would have killed us. He would have taken at minimum 9 sacks.I don't disagree. Howard's biggest problem is -- he doesn't have the arm to make the downfield throws. It is his biggest weakness.

One of the most surprising things for me is how little they used Howard's legs. I really thought that would be a thing Michigan would have to account for, especially in a Chip Kelly offense. I wonder if Howard's injury played a role in that, I wouldn't blame them for trying to protect him after those hits. I really think the lack of designed QB runs the last four years has really held OSU back
Howard getting hit definitely played a part, that's for sure. He wasn't healthy after that. They just never properly adjusted after that in terms of letting him run and they tried running up the gut more, which was never working, and it killed them. One of the most surprising things for me is how little they used Howard's legs. We would be 8-4 at best with McCord this year. He's a horrific QB.McCord had a good game against a abysmal Miami defense but he’s had some stinkers this year. The 5 INT game vs Pitt and he basically cost them the game vs Stanford as well. With the game plan laid out today McCord woulda struggled
