Good bye Ryan Day

I've had time to cool off and think about the situation.. Unless Ohio State gets blown out in the first round, you have to give Day another season.

Can't fire Day unless he starts dropping 3 or 4 losses and missing the CFP.

Day has never lost more than 2 games. Cooper did that 9 times in 13 seasons.
You guys through in your 2nd clunker against Michigan. (First was the corn aggies.)

But I don’t see a single team in the playoffs you guys can’t beat. Unless they sit around and mope.

Now you beating yourself is a different story. You have proven you have that ability.

This is what I keep thinking, we have to judge college coaches differently now. Before they expanded to 12, you could hardly afford a single slip up every year. Now, if you're in the SEC or Big Ten, you can still make the field with 2 losses and possibly 3 some years.

I know that it is a big rivalry game. Ohio State owned that game for many years. Okay, the tables have turned. The deal about getting Day out of there. He hasn't won a B1G championship in a good bit and has lost to the Wolverines four straight times. Look at what his total record is in the B1G. He hasn't lost more than 2 games in a season (I think). Okay, so Day gets gone. Is there a coach out there that will REALLY come to Columbus and continue to do what Day has done successfully? A lot of programs "give" a coach a time frame to get their shit together, players brought in, scheme established, etc. Will this "way" be followed at Ohio State? Will the Buckeye boosters, fans, program be okay with a new coach coming in and losing 4 games the first season, 3 games each the next two seasons, then only losing one or two games a season afterwards? Will there be that much patience?

Watch him win the Natty. Then we can fire him.

People get way too hung up on the 10 wins a year thing. With the talent you can bring to Ohio State you really are only playing 2 maybe 3 teams per year who can get somewhat close talent wise, you just have to avoid tripping up against bad teams for the most part.

Just making a 12 team playoff means nothing. There's no point if you just lose in the 1st or 2nd round every year, which will be the case with Day at the helm.

DAY himself I think could easily lose 3 games next season, there's no assurance that he isn't going to tank into a 3 loss per year coach himself, he's clearly mentally weak when it comes to certain things and this loss is liable to have totally broke him. Now is as good of a time as ever to move on.

As for "is there a coach who can keep it up" people swore Ohio State was going to fall off when Urban left as well. You never know that's true but i'd rather take our chances with someone new than cling onto a guy whos never gonna win titles just because "he wins 10 games a year!"

two years ago Day was THIS close to beating Georgia and most likely winning the Natty

Day just doesn't have that "it" factor in big games.

Blew a 14 point 4th quarter lead to UGA.

Settled for too many FGs early (2 of them were 20 some odd yarders) in that Clemson playoff game we lost, blew a 16-0 lead which coulda been a much bigger lead but he couldn't get it done.

Very poor clock management at the end which helped lose the Oregon game this year.

I don’t like you cooled off. Try growing a pair and heating back up.

Yea it's gonna take missing the playoff for him to get fired, I think it's very possible we lose 3 games next year, that should do the trick
What's your schedule look like? I honestly have not looked. If they have a schedule similar to this year's 3 losses would be a tough pull.

And, did you ever imagine yourself kind of hoping for 3 losses?

We are more likely to go 12-0 than 9-3.
