Has your opinion of Sherrone Moore changed?

  • Yes, he deserves time to develop his program

  • No, this was just a fluke win and doesn't change my overall opinion

Not involving Edwards heavily in the passing game was a big error that's for sure.

My question is how much are they going to actually trust Underwood to air it out, i'm assuming there's no way he's coming to sit on the bench for a year? They might bring in some rinky dink vet in the portal but that will be for more insurance purposes.

I would assume he knows they're going for a portal QB? I'm excited for Underwood, but I don't think him starting as a true freshman behind the OL as it stands looks like a wise idea anyway. Ideally they get a competent QB and they can let him get his feet wet a few times in games (up several scores, or one off plays kinda like they did with McCarthy in 2021). I'm not opposed to Miller Moss, I feel like he was let down by Riley's playcalling and threw way more than he needed to

In today's game I find it hard to believe a high 5* QB is going to be ok with sitting, especially at a place like Michigan where there is no competition at the moment.

I also find it hard to believe that any of the better transfer QBs are gonna go there knowing said high 5* QB is there as well. You're more likely getting a John O'Korn type than Miller Moss

Day started out 2-0 against michigan, too. It's one thing to be a recruiter, it's another to be a coach. Going 7-5 this year? Not too great.
Day is 1-4 against Michigan, so how did he start 2-0?

Also -- I agree 7-5 is not good, but he didn't take over the best situation. Losing 18 players to the NFL, including your entire offense. Then losing the captain of your defense before the season (Rod Moore) and then losing your All-American CB after 4 weeks.
And oh yeah -- not having a QB. Though I blame him for that for not getting one in the portal and being willing to roll with the trash we have.

Ohio State has lost tons of players in certain seasons before without completely tanking to 7-5 Alamo Bowl level. We had 10 players drafted in the first 3 rounds of the 2016 draft and still managed to make the 4 team playoff that season. Most of the players Michigan lost were later rounders or UDFAs.

Underwood will be able to hide deficiencies in the OL because of his mobility. The guy is a freak athlete -- when they announce him before games he does the same flip Ozzie Smith used to do on his way out to his position. I'm hoping Michigan puts an end to that.

He has also been winging the ball all over the field since his freshman season. He threw for 3,000 yards 39 tds and only 3 int's as a freshman in high school playing in the highest division in Michigan (Not that this is saying much)

He also is big kid already 6'4" 215, but he looks like a cartoon with how wide his shoulders are. So he is big enough to play already, but i wager he ends up 235-240 once he gets into a college weight training program.

It's not really the injury aspect to be worried about with Underwood, we have seen a fair share of QBs who end up getting rattled and have been ruined being thrown in behind shaky OLs. That's what you have to avoid.

When will Ohio fans realize -- we have never been able to recruit like you guys do. This year -- Ohio has more 5 star recruits than the 17 other B1G teams combined have.

Ohio can miss on two dozen recruits and it wouldn't hurt you in the least bit. Michigan can't do that. Hopefully if the rumors about them opening up the wallet to use NIL in recruiting that changes. We will see though.

I live right down the road from the kid. Watched him quite a bit in high school.
I'm more worried about the money making him lose focus than him getting rattled. He has had a spotlight on him long before even high school. He does believe in his arm a little too much and will make some wild throws, but he has an absolute rocket for an arm.

I understand your thought process but High School does not mean dick when it comes to transitioning to major college football. We've seen plenty of highly rated QBs who looked like they had it all together flop before. No one is 100% immune from it.

Rightfully so, the postmortem on "The Game" will be focused on Ryan Day, Ohio St's failure to beat Michigan, the fight, and implications for the playoff seating. But here is a question that I have not seen on here:

Has Sherrone Moore put himself into a different light for Michigan fans? He arguably will never need to pay for a meal or a beer in Ann Arbor again just for yesterday's game. But the bigger question, have fans changed their view on him? To say the cupboard was bare in Ann Arbor would be an understatement. Michigan was supposed to ride its defense, their strength. The defense was injury riddled and disappointing. For several games Michigan didn't even yield more than 100 yards passing among a carousel of no name QB's. We heard things like Moore is just a place holder, an impulsive hire, or it was too late to hire anyone else when Harbaugh left for the NFL. He has two wins against Ohio St, the top rated QB committed. Does this change your view?
Yes, 100%.

It started rough, the roster was gutted and so on -- but there were adjustments made, roster was stabilized and he beat every single major rival. This, of course, does answer the age old question of "would you rather go 11-1 and lose to OSU or 1-11 and beat OSU" The answer is beat OSU.

All opinions prior were based on the reality and legitimate prediction that we were going to get killed by Ohio State and finish 6-6. But if you beat Ohio State with a walk on QB in columbus by holding a $20 million roster specifically assembled to beat you and win a national title, with like 3 NFL WR's on it, to 10 points...then you absolutely buy yourself more time. Sitting at 7-5 with a bowl game, this team has a chance to finish with a respectable 8 win season.

Oh, and also while assembling a pretty awesome recruiting class and finally loading the NIL cannon.

Now that the season is over, you can legitimately say that had Harbaugh left Michigan with a suitable QB replacement for JJ, Michigan would probably be a 9 or 10 win football team right now. We should have beat Washington, Illinois and Indiana and we should have beat USC by more.

I agree. Nothing is guarantee. He enrolls at UM next week, so he will get to practice with the team in their bowl game and have a head start on next year.

So I wouldn't be surprised if he is the starting QB next year. Also wouldn't be surprised if he sits to start.

I would. Like I said above I don't think y'all are attracting any of the better transfer QBs with him there, those guys wanna play they aren't gonna risk losing out to a 5* freshman. This is a pretty weak QB transfer class to begin with too.

Your schedule next year is not good, the "big" OOC is against a stumbling Oklahoma program and you avoid Oregon & Penn State.

Unless teams like Washington, Nebraska, Sparty & Wisconsin see good improvement i'd argue at this point that Michigan should probably win 9 games next season or it will be a big disappointment. Your big problem is gonna be depth again, that can be sort of fixed if they play the portal right.

Yeah -- I don't expect the top portal QB's to be beating down Michigan's door. Hell -- I wouldn't be surprise if Jadyn Davis enters the portal.

Davis was a 5 star QB for the longest time. Will be interesting to see what he does.

The world knows 2020 OSU would have rolled michigan, ducking us to save Hairball's job is a loss.

michigan's recruiting classes from 2021-2024 averaged a national rank of 13th. And yeah, how the hell does he not know to get a new QB in the portal? That's dumber than dipshit Kelly running between the guards 19 times Saturday.

I'd rather play Underwood than take any of the guys in this portal class. Miller Moss took quite a step back this year and that was in a very pass friendly offense, I wouldn't want him.

Assuming Davis will transfer, there's no point in him staying another year, Underwood will come in and be ahead of him from the start, it would take Underwood busting out for Davis to ever get any real play.

I wish it was the Oklahoma from this year we were facing next year. They hired that 29 year old OC who has put up huge numbers everywhere he has went.
They also figured out that using Jackson Arnold's legs is a huge asset, as he ran for 100 against Bama.
I think Oklahoma will be a very different team next year.

The other teams, I don't think you will see much improvement.

I'm going to assume you are talking about the dipshit Kelly at Ohio State and not the dipshit Kelly at Louisiana State.
Although, the shoe fits both.

Even if you lost to Oklahoma I can't see more than 2 maybe 3 B1G losses, even if you completely whiff on the portal.

Yeah. I think with Underwood enrolling early -- the job will be his. Michigan has 2 guys returning on the OL. They also have two others who could come back for one more year if they want. I think Michigan will be in the portal as well getting an OL or 2.

They have the #2 OL 5 star Andrew Babalola coming next year in our class, and they have 5 star Ty Haywood coming to visit this week, who the #4 OL. Both are tackles. So OL isn't what I'm worried about. We only gave up an average of 1 sack a game this year, and we didn't have a mobile QB or even a QB with any pocket presence. :pound:
