Coaching Carousel 2024 season

I just can’t picture BB recruiting or dealing with NIL or the transfer portal!

And UNC decides to go with a youth movement changing from a guy born in 1951 to a much younger guy that was born in 1952!!!
In my gut…Same, I keep thinking maybe instead of HC they’d rather have him in a GM role similar to how Stanford did with Andrew Luck.

But that role would involve more recruiting and NIL involvement. I think this UNC deal would actually be the other way around. He'll go there if they put a strong GM in place where all he has to do is coach and he'll come in to recruit as the final closer. But all the legwork, roster management, and NIL will be handled by the GM.

(FWIW, this is how the sport is gonna look at every school that's actually serious about football and basketball)

Could be 🤷‍♂️
I agree about the GM roles, I think that era is here ready or not and.. imo that will be a good thing. The coaches have made it clear that they want to actually COACH players and that role has been diminishing now more and more for years and the recent changes have pretty much forced the HC’s to be fundraisers and full time recruiters. I think the more actual coaching that the HC can do the less we’ll see good coaches walk away.

Yeah, I heard something related to this on a podcast back in October, maybe. A team (I forgot which one) has hired a position related to "GM". Maybe not called that exact thing, but the dollars were flowing for that position.

With all the stuff that Belichick has accomplished, I can't see him dealing with a bunch of kids, NIL, recruiting, football at a basketball school, etc. He's gonna be like, "Y'all take care of the other shit. I am here to coach."
