Nebraska Cornhuskers The Official 10000 posts for a Husker Conference Championship

Dana convince him to stay? Really hope Rhule just lets Dana cook this off-season. Fire and hire whomever he wants. Try to get a plan together assuming he gets another HC job in the next couple of years.

If Emmett is coming back (and it appears he is) I think that should point to the fact that Sat and Barthel will not be here after the bowl game.

Adam Carriker broke the news the Emmett Johnson is staying at Nebraska. Was this a ploy to get a better NIL deal? I just bought another 6 of CornHead beer to support 1890 Initiative and the cause.

At least it is a Saturday.

I can't think of any bowl game I'd rather not attend as a fan. How underwhelming.

I'm just happy they're gonna get a bunch of extra practices in. It's literally an extra spring/fall practice season for the youngsters. Nebraska hasn't had those for 7 years.

It gives Holgorsen a chance to install some offensive packages going into next year.

Looking forward to year 3 as that's when Rhule's teams have made their biggest strides.

Agreed RA. Portal also will tell you who's out so practice can focus on guys staying. Hopefully get the young guys lots of boost going into spring, even if don't know DC for next year.

That is the silver lining. It's a great opportunity to get a jump on next year.

Meet your new DC.... Not happy, but I hope I am very wrong about him.

Agree. Wasn't thrilled with the DBs this year. Felt like we needed to try and find someone that was good elsewhere and could maybe bring along a guy or two. Going to be harder to be better next year.

Hopefully he can prove me wrong.

Oh and Phil Snow is Associate HC and Terry Bradden is likely to be the new defensive line coach.

Guys on the radio had mentioned that our former DC wanted more zone coverage but our new DC went to Rhule and got it over-ruled (no pun). Measure accordingly, however, White had stated on video somewhere that John Butler came in initially and wanted to do some exotic defensive coverage schemes but Tony White put the breaks in that.

Not sure how much DB play you can pin on Butler since he wasn't even their coach until July of this year.

Butler learned a bit under White and Rhule obviously wants to stick with the 3-3-5 since that's what he's recruited to for the last 2.5 years.

I'm hopefully optimistic we're gonna see a much better team on both sides of the ball next year.

Well we have no choice in the matter, so we gotta deal.

But I averaged out the points per game at Penn St a year before Butler, with Butler, and a year after Butler.... these were the results

-Year before 2012 PSU averaged 19ppg allowed.
-With Butler 2013 PSU averaged 26 ppg allowed.
-Year after 2014 PSU averaged 18 ppg allowed.

Not saying that is an absolute Stat as obviously there are many factors and one year isn't a great metric to judge his coaching ability, but it is fair to point to.

Houston Christian, that is really a waste of a game IMO. Why would you schedule that?? I'm not sure what that does for a team other than letting the 2nd and 3rd/4th teamers play.

I can see 8 to 9 wins on that schedule if they don't Nebraska themselves.

Seems like more and more teams are playing these FCS foes. So you are saying 6-6 then ?

HBU was scheduled when the cincy game was moved late in 2023 and they had to get that date filled
