Think this is probably the best move for all involved. Larranaga was great at Miami overall though.

I'm surprised he even started the season. He's looked absolutely miserable and checked out for the last couple of years.
 


i know he's like 1,000 years old, but this brings me back to the Forbes rotary meeting I attended. The coaches are tired of this shit. it impacts college basketball more than college football due to the smaller talent pool.

i don't think it should be a surprise that the SEC, a conference loaded with state funded schools, is now the top conference in men's hoops. this new system benefits schools that have large alumni bases.

once it became clear that the Deacs weren't going to live up to their preseason billing, i mostly checked out of the sport. i have watched less than 10 minutes of non-Deacs and HPU college basketball this year. the product sucks.

Some of that may be true, but Larannaga benefitted from those rules.

His Final 4 wouldn't have been possible without it.

Forbes moved to Ty'Laur Johnson into the starting PG role against Syracuse and since then the Deacs have shot 43% from 3 point range. they finally looked like the team that i was promised in the off-season against NCSU.

it's not that Johnson is great (he's far from it), but putting him in to the run offense frees up both Sallis and Hildreth..which allows them to focus on their strengths.

lmao. Forbes fucked around in the OOC again and its going to cost the Deacs AGAIN. it's probably too late unless they go 16-4 or better in this pathetic conference.

The sense I get is there's a possibility Young will retire as like a lot of older coaches, he doesn't like the new state of college sports. Part of our problem is he never embraced NIL, seeing as something to be tolerated instead of embraced, so he wasn't out there whipping up funds even after we won the ACC Tourney. But its not a given he goes, reports are mixed from people who know things. He may stick it out for another year or two but either way, I doubt he's around for the long haul. I'd love to see him leave because I never thought he had the right mentality to be a big conference coach anyway even before NIL kicked into high gear but at the same time, we have a shit AD and unless he's gone, it doesn't really matter if Young stays or not. He hasn't done well hiring coaches and he's done a terrible job managing resources so its not like any promising coach would look at that and say "yeah, sign me up for that". Lot of our fans are wanting Ryan Odom and I don't think they realize that our program would be a significant step down for Odom. He's not leaving VCU to go to VT on bare funds. These fools think the ACC brand still means something

Cuse is terrible. This has got to be their worst season since before Boeheim was there. I doubt they'll fire after 2 seasons, but they absolutely should.

yep, its amazing to see how many fans can't see that NIL has changed everything. I'd rather coach at a mid-major with loaded donors than a major conference school with a mismanaged NIL.

kinda want to see Odom @ Wake if Forbes doesn't work out. i don't think Forbes is anywhere close to the hot seat, tho.

syracusefan.com has a 10+ page long "Coaching Candidates" thread so things are going well there. i wonder how their NIL is, too. you never know these days.
