USC is playing this Saturday at 9AM

It was 1980 when I played. There were only a couple of games played that early over the time I played. It wasn't D1, so travel was by bus which I assume was part of the reason why there were occasional 9am games.

Even at that level, the couple of 9 am games we had weren't as well attended as the evening games. But tv viewership wasn't anything we had to worry about either.
That’s 40 years ago. Still 9am? Be reasonable. Every D2 and D3 game around me doesn’t start before 12 with most starting at 1.

In the realm of discussion D1A doesn’t have any that start at 9am until your Trojans tomorrow. I’m not saying viewership concerns isn’t possible but it’s ludicrous to say it’s only about viewership when ex. a WVU vs Oregon State game at 9am eastern (obviously we are playing out east) would at least get some people instead of hiding it on ESPN 2 going against other noon games. An networks do not give a shit how many eyes are seeing it live, they give a shit how many eyes see it through their networks. I’m arguing injuries play a factor in that decision to not put games on at 9am too.

What's unreasonable? It was still football. It was still played at 9am.

And I'm telling you you're wrong. So is pretty much everyone else in the thread.

Cite the team you played for.

Thank you for your opinion.

Gonna keep the team I played for to myself. No offense, but I don't put much personal info on message boards.

Just suffice to say that it wasn't D1 and one of the things I learned was that God gave me the size of a defensive back and the speed of a defensive lineman.

End result, I was trying to play defensive end at 185 lbs. Even in 1980, that was too small. lol

I played as high as high school. I was a center and middle linebacker. Got moved to d tackle my senior year because I packed a few pounds I was over 200 an 6 Foot. I know all about defensive lineman speed.

Yeah, in high school I was a linebacker. Got to college and wasn't fast enough.

Funny story, early in my freshman year, I'm in scrimmaging against the starting offense. I was 6'2" 185, the guard on that side was 6'3" 260 and the tackle was 6'5" 275.

The first few plays went the other way and I was pretty quick off the ball so I got past them okay and was feeling pretty good about myself.

Then, the offense ran a play right at me and I got double teamed by them. I ended up getting driven back about 10 yards and then they just crushed me. My d-line coach looks down at me and says..."Don't try to take on a double team. Take their legs out and let the linebacker make the tackle". I look at him and say "Now you tell me". lol

Damn that’s quite an intro. I’m sure you got some other war stories. My only one I ended up going against a nose guard nearly the size of your guard. A bit smaller in height but a hog with wheels. He was ripping me a good one all night I didn’t have help. On one play a slant was called so we crunched. The previous 3 times he just pushed me down. This time I acted like I was going low and stood and ended up pancaking him as he was expecting something low And off balance. A proud moment indeed! We lost 35-7

Yeah, our d-line coach was always on me to gain weight. I would start the season at 200-205, but by the end of 2 a days etc. I was always down to around 185. Every week at weigh ins he'd yell at me for losing weight. It was usually something like "What the hell? Our goddammed quarterback has 25 pounds on you."

If he saw me walking around campus and I wasn't eating or drinking a milkshake or something, he'd make me go get something. lol

Did anyone survive?

Did anyone survive?

1 Ankle Sprain in the game for USC
1 rib injury for ASU
some cramping for 1 ASU player.

is this a higher % than normal?

Guess we know who doesn’t care about human lives.
RIP to those that won’t survive.

No injuries are acceptable.

Glad that injuries were limited in this game, not only for the players' sakes, but also to see all the derpy takes by @ralphiewvu get destroyed.

I mean its just 1 game. maybe if there are more we would have a better sample size so we know for sure his clown takes are poop

Hey @Wild Turkey

Look at the two Oregon faggots trying to take a victory lap when they were the ones voicing their displeasure that a season would happen. Hypocrisy at its finest.
