If he doesn't get one of those, he's fucked. Candidly, though, neither of those teams is going to pay him what UTjr was, and they have zero leverage. There will be no bidding war for him. This is going to go down as one of the dumber moves in CFB NIL history. Dude may have cost himself 3 or 4 million. LOL, dumbshit.

That would lose in court. It wouldn't be close. Could a coach leave an SEC school for another SEC school during the same periood? The Feds have called that "freedom of movement", I think.

I watched the first quarter and listened to the 2nd on the way to my son's house. Sayin was outplaying LK at that time in my opinion, but he missed a wide open WR in the end zone which kinda sucked.

Has an SEC coach ever left for another SEC school during the spring transfer period?

Has a coach from any conference left a school for another school during the spring transfer portal?

Can he transfer and play for a non SEC team for the 2025 season, and then transfer back to the SEC in 2026 with immediate eligibility?
If he has a good season where he transfers from Tennessee to, then he'll get that NIL money back (and some) from a new SEC team.

Why does it matter if it ever happened? Coaches don't even have a transfer portal.

Just last year:

Ohio State's RB coach left for Michigan in the middle of spring practice.
Oregon's RB coach left for Ohio State shortly after.

The courts will not uphold a restriction on student athletes that is not imposed on anyone else. That's why the "hardship" crap was stopped. In 2023, courts told the NCAA they couldn't prevent players from playing if they transferred twice.

The NCAA has no leg to stand on. Neither will any conference.
 
just find it funny how everyone is sticking up for TN when they were the ones who opened their wallets from the get go to get Nico..

He was all about getting paid when he was a recruit.. TN came over the top, threw more to ensure he would not go elsewhere.. I don't think he ever really wanted to be there.. If you put truth serum in him and his family, they would have rather tried to get with Riley who was sorta handcuffed with Malachi at that point.

So with all the TN stepped up.. showed Nico and his family that they won't be used... remember who actually started this.. If your biggest pitch is money to a player who wants to get all he can.. Can't get mad when he wants more halfway through his time there.

The day will happen soon where they will actually be considered employees and not student athletes. These kids keep pushing the boundaries not even realizing they have it just about perfect right now. Once they are called employees these schools will be putting all kinds of shit in their "contract"

Biggest difference for me here is Penix and Howard were lower level recruits who busted their asses to achieve what they did, while Nico is basically the opposite. Not sure if it's his family behind this or not, but I'd be a lot more surprised if he was great than if he completely flames out.

It was his first year as starter, he wasn't good, and was getting $2.5m and he's saying he needs more? GTFO
