Agree. This rushed pre-emptive, toothless suspension that happens weeks into the season, is all about narrative. Michigan wants to try to soften the blow by claiming they already have the suspensions handled.I think the NCAA intends to punish Michigan significantly.
If it weren't significant, Michigan would have already agreed, paid the fine and taken the scholarship reductions and moved on.
It won't be as much as it should be, but it will be more than Michigan wants.

If I were the NCAA I'd pause the readout of findings and question what Michigan recently discovered that made them change their tune from "we did nothing wrong" to "our coach needs to be suspended". Gotta make sure the NCAA didn't miss anything, so let's review the evidence and the timelines of when Michigan knew. When it turns out Michigan knew all along and didn't take action last season, double whatever the punishment the NCAA was going to hand out. Suspend Crybaby Sharon two full seasons and reduce all UM athletic scholarships by 50% during that time.

And make everyone lick a white dog turd tooShould be a minimum 2 year postseason ban.
Significant scholarship reduction + other recruiting limitations
Lifetime ban for the coaches involved.
I'd argue the school should have to pay any money they earned from revenue sharing during the cheating years back as well, since they cheated everyone else.
You realize that just makes your annual game that much more of their super bowl, right?Should be a minimum 2 year postseason ban.

Lol, I don't know what's funnier -- this nothingburger of a penalty or the fact that we purposefully skipped over the Oklahoma game so that he was only gone for CMU and Nebraska.HEY @MAIZEandBLUE09 , whenever you’re ready.
lol, you mean when Michigan might get a fine and some scholarship reductions?Looks like this self imposed suspension is only related to the level 2 charge of Moore deleting text messages. This has no effect on the looming SIX level 1 violations.
Michigan is prevented from saying anything about this. Michigan can't say a thing. That's not an admission of anything but rather the literal rule.Yep the real shitstorm is coming and Michigan is quiet
Michigan isn't releasing this. If you ask me, a two game suspension for deleting text messages (before they were asked for) and returning all those text messages when asked, does not deserve a two game suspension. That said, it seems like a major chunk of these punishments are going to be directed at individuals. I think everyone involved and charged with some version of a level 1 will get some punishment in the form of a meaningless show-cause, or in Moore's case a brief suspension. I suspect very little will be directed at the university, well short of the hammer you've all been predicting for two years now. This seems like a sad attempt to try to help sway public perception and amp up their "we are the real victims in all of this" card when the real hammer comes down. "WE SELF IMPOSED AND SUSPENDED OUR COACH 2 HAND PICKED GAMES AND THE NCAA STILL CONTINUED THEIR WITCH HUNT ON US!" type stuff.
"The university refutes many of the alleged rules violations and accuses the NCAA of 'grossly overreaching' and 'wildly overcharging the program without credible evidence that other staff members knew (of the violations)," Dellenger wrote. "Michigan makes clear that it will not enter into a negotiated resolution with the NCAA over the alleged wrongdoing, vigorously defending its former head coach, current head coach, several staff members and even Stalions."

And the "leaked" response from Michigan illustrates as much
They're suspending coaches for a variety of nonsense they found while trying to find connections to sign stealing. Minter got a show cause for contacting a recruit before permissible, normally a minor violation, and Clink got a show cause for "impermissible benefits to recruits while on a visit" -- again, normally a minor violation if self reported.Everyone suspends coaches for doing nothing wrong, very common practice.

The NCAA is being dicks about these because they couldn't find anything else, which is ultimately good for michigan. Giving NFL coaches 1 and 2 year show-causes while under multi-year NFL contracts is a hilarious waste of time and something the NCAA can look back and say "see we did something!".
The same thing for Moore. He deleted the messages and promptly returned them, which showed no wrongdoing. I suspect Michigan is banning him to overall take some of the brunt away from any other penalties. But we shall see.
