You may be right ... but I rather not take either for granted. Those MAC teams are sometimes sneaky. It's no mystery that Oklahoma would be expected to be a more formidable opponent than Nebraska.

There’s the Maize we’ve all come to loathe!Lol, I don't know what's funnier -- this nothingburger of a penalty or the fact that we purposefully skipped over the Oklahoma game so that he was only gone for CMU and Nebraska.
While no one else on the coaching staff had a clue this was happeningI think you could argue that Stallions might be deserving of a more significant ban, but not for the scouting aspect and more for the scheme he concocted to try and side-step the rules.
The ncaa spent 3 months looking at every aspect of our program and found nothing. Pretty safe to say no one else knew. While no one else on the coaching staff had a clue this was happening

So what happened to praising the michigan program for finding a "loophole" and exposing it, like you used to go on about? The ncaa spent 3 months looking at every aspect of our program and found nothing. Pretty safe to say no one else knew.
I think it’s clear that stallions committed minor violations in the few games the ncaa theoretically (based on reports) proved he personally attended. Thats a direct rule violation. A minor rule but a rule. The other stuff isn’t a rule violation. I suspect the ncaa is going to lean into the games he attended and his non cooperation for any punishments. again, there’s a reason all these level 1 violations are for nonsense; because they got nothing else.So what happened to praising the michigan program for finding a "loophole" and exposing it, like you used to go on about?
Ohh agreed. This elaborate scheme makes total sense to be a one person job. Anyone thinking any coaches had any knowledge of this is crazy. The ncaa spent 3 months looking at every aspect of our program and found nothing. Pretty safe to say no one else knew.
Have you....seen Connor Stallions? Normally I might agree with you but that dude is an actual psychopath. I 100% believe he did this one his own, in his free time and with his own funding. Not to mention, there's no evidence connecting this to anyone else, which on it's own would seem impossible if others knew.Ohh agreed. This elaborate scheme makes total sense to be a one person job. No dude I totally agree. It’s standard procedure for coaches to accept any information from a defensive analyst without asking any questions as to where it came from. That and self imposing a multiple game suspension on the HC for minor violations is as standard as it gets. Totally dude.Have you....seen Connor Stallions? Woah Woah Woah easy Maize, we’re in agreement.1. Every team had on staff a defensive analyst who's entire job it was, was to decode the signs of the opposite team (Both in game and with pre-scouting)
2. Your assumption that coaches, using the information provided by someone legally hired to steal signs, would be able to tell the difference between information gathered legally or illegally is, quite frankly, baseless. He was being paid to scout team's signals, as was someone else at every single university. There is 0 indication anyone else was involved in the methods he used to make information gathering easier on himself.
3. Sherrone Moore has been suspended for something entirely outside of sign stealing -- and that's the act of deleting the text messages. An act the NCAA is treating like he was lying/being dishonest. Those text messages were all entirely recovered and handed over when asked -- and contained 0 incriminating information.
This came out after the fact and there's no indication that anyone knew, including Central Michigan, before the news broke later.Woah Woah Woah easy Maize, we’re in agreement.
Everyone knows a defensive analyst being on an opposing sideline in a game not involving his employer with recording glasses is standard procedure. And it’s ridiculous to think any coach had any knowledge of what was going on. People want to act like the HC took a pay cut on a restructured deal a year or two before.
Universities have been suspending head coaches multiple games for deleting texts for years. It’s just incredible how jealous people are, they just don’t get it Maize.
Ohh definitely no one at CMU knew he was there. He probably found a whole bunch of CMU gear on the side of the road with a sideline pass. Happens all the time. And why would anyone at Michigan know about this, again people want to act like the HC took a reduction in pay a year or two before. This came out after the fact and there's no indication that anyone knew, including Central Michigan, before the news broke later.
Moore is being suspended for the perception that he didn't cooperate. That's it.
Without us being involved in major D1 college programs, we’re just speculating.. but I would think playbooks and the signs associated with them are implemented all during the offseason with maybe minor adjustments throughout the season. Everyone needs to be on the same page for seamless and flawless execution. Redoing your entire sign language MID season doesn’t sound feasible. I could be wrong, but to me seems logicalThat is a heck of an excuse. No one has ever offered me a football coaching job, but even I could figure out how to defeat someone stealing my signals.
In case you aren't aware, someone on CMU's staff being aware (which has still never come out as true), is not Michigan knowing. More importantly, you think our staff allowed an analyst to dress up in a disguise and walk the sidelines of CMU? And they did something so stupid, while also being so smart as to remove any and all trace of it?Ohh definitely no one at CMU knew he was there. He probably found a whole bunch of CMU gear on the side of the road with a sideline pass. Happens all the time. Schools always suspend head coaches multiple games for perceptions. Always
I got your back on this buddy!
It's not the violation, it's just how the NCAA operates. Part of me thinks they don't really want to punish any schools anymore, not since SMU, so they wait so long that everyone except the school and their closest rivals even remember the rules were broken. What is the violation that is taking so long to bring to a conclusion? It appears we sent someone to a football game with a smartphone and the teams couldn’t figure out how to make their signals more complex … Except Texas Christian University. Thank you TCU for showing us that some universities are able to think.
I played baseball growing up; and yes, I understand it's not a direct translation to football signs. That said, if we thought someone had figured out a sign, we almost instantly created another layer that was just a "cancel that" so the opposing team wouldn't know what was the real sign or not. We didn't need to change the entire system to add in confusion.Without us being involved in major D1 college programs, we’re just speculating.. but I would think playbooks and the signs associated with them are implemented all during the offseason with maybe minor adjustments throughout the season. As for TCU, didn’t they have a whole month to prepare? That’s a lot different than having one week during the season.
You being able to come up with a signal call scheme that is different each week is a little bit different than you coming up with a new signal calling scheme and getting 50+ twenty year olds, who for the most part aren't the best educated people, to be able to remember it each week. That is a heck of an excuse. No one has ever offered me a football coaching job, but even I could figure out how to defeat someone stealing my signals. I have mentioned it a few times in this thread. Also, losing our head coach against an upcoming team (Nebraska) with a pretty fucking good history does not make me comfortable. Sorry this is the most minor of minor violations. Probably that is the reason it’s taking so long … looking for something to add for the violations.
Except in baseball pretty much everyone uses the same signs, just have a different hot signal. And you can change the hot signal every inning. Not really comparable to football.I played baseball growing up; and yes, I understand it's not a direct translation to football signs. You can't convince me that Ohio State made no attempt to create unique versions for the game. Especially given sign stealing IS LEGAL. So even if you didn't think anything against the rules was happening in how the sign information was being gathered, wouldn't you be an absolute idiot not to adjust your signs?
Ohio State, like TCU, had a whole month to prepare in 2023. It didn't change the outcome.
