Covid lockdown part 2 - board games

It's been hammerschlagen for 80 years.
sure, whatever.

Ima call it Stump.

just like some people like to call Beer Pong "Beirut" to make it sound fancier and more worldly

I'm getting a head start buying some board games for the inevitable second lockdown. Anyone have some favorites? It'll probably mostly be 2 people, but potentially 4 or 5.
2 players - backgammon and cribbage

3 or 4 players, one of my favorites is payday -
each round is a calendar month,
and you can play a few or several months -

cheers!

Except it didn't get changed to make it sound worldly. That's just what it was called.

It is related to oktoberfest. We didn't change that name to fall beer. Plus Stump is a dumb name for the game.
It’s a drinking game, the more American sounding and the less syllables, the better. Everyone knows Germany loses hard every time they get froggy

Regardless, the first time I played it was with a buddy and some random people at a large beer fest with something like 100 beers to sample. After just a little bit we decided to try it. All eight people were terrible at it. One of the random people eventually won. When the thing was about over and we were good and sloshed, we decided to try again. My buddy hit his over halfway. I figured I might as well let it rip because he was close to done already. I ended up smoking it and only had about a half inch or so left. I won it on my second swing. The aiming juice was strong that day my friend.

This thread has taught me not to anger the germans.

I think I’m playing an American variant where the goal is for your nail to be the last one not completely driven, you swing at other people’s nails, and can get extra swings by flipping the hammer between your legs or behind your back, but the hammer must always at least make it over your head when tossed. We are all straight liquor drinkers.

Drink so much if you drop the hammer, drink so much if you miss the nail, drink a lot if you bend the nail, drink if you catch the hammer in a way that you don’t want to attempt a swing and drink a lot when your nail is completely driven

That one can be called Stump i guess. Its the exact same except you only hit your own and its a simple hammer flip.

I've only played it the way Chewy said.

Stump it shall remain.

For two people Mancala is a lot of fun.

Hive is also a great 2 person game.

If you have 4 people play card games.
