This is mind boggling. It is possible the local longhorn just has bad management or something but it sucked both times I've been there. Also it is kind of weird to mention the merits of cooking steak at home and then be defensive of a steak chain.

There’s occasions where it’s more practical to go to a steakhouse. Get you a rare porterhouse and a double order of rice pilaf, and Longhorn beats all other chain steakhouses
 
i've only been to two of these, outback and texas roadhouse.

There is ruth chris and capital grille here in MN, I've been meaning to check them out.

and Golden Corral tops them all!

and of course The best steak house, chain owned by greek family

If you say so. We have some top notch local places around here so it is rare for me to go to a chain.
