Ranking 17 Chain Steak Houses

Bonanza’s, Black Angus and Mastro’s are the only ones I haven’t been to.

I feel like this list was compiled by a retard.

Morton’s and Shula’s by a lot.

I worked in Stamford for years while living in NYC and I used to go to the Morton's by the train station (I think it's closed now) pretty frequently. I remember they had this description of their mission/business plan up on the wall right by the entrance (basically trying to replicate the worldwide consistency of McDonald's with quality food) and the first time I read it I thought "so simple but what a great fucking idea this is/was!"

I'm more upset to learn that Capital Grille is a chain. I have been there a few times, and I honestly thought it was the only one.

Other than that, I'd certainly put Longhorns over Outback, and Texas Roadhouse over the both of them.

The first one was in Providence actually. They opened the one in Boston shortly before I got there, it was very close by and I remember in college it was kind of the place that you went if you had a date you wanted to impress. You know how it is when you're college aged, you're about as cultured as a wet fart and just go with the safe place that has food that you know for sure you'll like and finish since you don't want to risk not getting your money's worth. But it's not bad food at all.

I actually see there is another one here in the Atlanta area so I was clearly misinformed.

The only places on that list that I've seen and been to up here in Canada are The Outback and Black Anus Steakhouses. I haven't been to the Black Anus since it was Stuart Andersons Black Anus Steakhouse. That was back in the '70s and it was pretty rude food, back then. I was at the Outback outside of Toronto a few years ago and it wasn't too, too bad.

To be fair they thought it was Texas Whorehouse and Schlong Whorens.

yeah, Outback has really dropped off with the quality of their steaks. I usually just get Alice Springs Chicken if I go there because I can grill a steak 100 times better than they offer.
I refuse to go there. The last 2 times I went I got sick and I had the Alice Springs yard bird, nevermore!

The only reason to go to Applebee's is to get thrown out or to drink your sorrows away when your son comes out of the closet.
And....to pick up gals....I saw it in a movie once!

To be fair, American chain restaurants are generally not as good once they come up north. Even Tim Hortons seems to vary from province to province.

I'm probably going to be thrown out of the country for saying this if they can track me down. I've only had it in 4 provinces but I think Tim Horton's is so overrated and complete shit.

It's basically 7-11 grade coffee that you can drive through to buy. The price for the coffee is reasonable, I suppose, even though it's kinda watered down tasting. The donuts aren't the worst or the best you'll find (better than what Mickey D's is trying to pass off). The subs used to be ok but they've changed everything about them; now they suck.

Honestly, I think McDonalds coffee is the better option for drive-through coffee. YMMV

You’re the gourmet around here, Ed!
