Plus another more collapsible one fer the RV. New TVs in the playroom and our room, and a little guy for the RV.
Is that weather proof? Been meaning to replace the Wife’s old metal hammock stand with something nicer looking.

That new car of my mothers, yeah, thats right, it doesn't come with a spare tire or jack.
So I think I'll get the spare tire kit for it. Yeah, they sell at thru the parts department.
Dumbest thing I have ever seen, but a lot of manufacturers are going to it.

I'd feel better knowing its in the trunk.

You’re a good son.

Prolly weather resistant, but is anything truly weather proof? lol

It's pine, that's likely treated. I would prolly take the hammock part down in the winter, but leave the stand out. I presume I'll have to treat it at some point.

Took me one weekend of camping to realize there is really no such thing as a weather proof tent.

Weather proof tent = RV.
Hahahahaha....and even some of those bastards leak eventually. When weather and time tag up together, I'm pretty sure they're undefeated.

Yeah, we always put the hammock in the shed over winter. I like the look of the wood as opposed to the metal one we have. If that means I would need to treat/re-seal every couple years, that’s good trade off.

Ya, I dig the look. I got her a metal one that claims its easy to collapse and set up, for the RV.

I was so close to becoming RV guy. Then I figured out real fast how much tedious work goes into it all. My FIL can barely enjoy himself because he’s always messing w the RV or emptying shit or buying ice or trying not to kill himself balancing it on wooden blocks etc etc etc

Everyone else obviously gets to have fun while he works so hard and that’s what grandpas do but damn. Not my bag.

So did everybody else.

I take back what I said about you being a bad kid for buying your mom man gifts. Fuck her.
Too much T in your preworkout smoothy this morning, Bobby?

We just got a spanking new one in September. Just a 20 footer, single axle. I'm excited about it tho. I grew up in the backcountry, and before the kids, we did a lot of backcountry stuff. Since the kids, my wife is convinced Bears are going to kill us all, so the only option is an RV. We raft the shit out of the rivers here in the season, but I looove new water, so the RV will afford more opportunities for that too.

Good luck with those balancing blocks...

Getting my 12 year old Grandson this race car set.

You would think these things wouldn't cost over a hundred dollars.
Yep, they do.

Snagged one today at Hobby Lobby.
I'll have to say that Hobby Lobby has some pretty neat retro toys to choose from. These race car sets, train sets, models you glue together, Estes model Rockets, etc.

Wifey is getting a digital piano that is around $500 "from" the kids. She got them musical handbells-type stuff to learn music earlier this year and they loved them, so she mentioned she'd like to play along with the kids and I know she used to play piano and was in band from middle to high school with a few different instruments. May get me to break out my guitar as well, so we'll see.

Kids are getting several things that I'm aware of and was discussed with me prior, with plenty others that I'll be given credit, but have no clue what they are until ransacked. The Battlebots build your own thing is something they wanted while watching the show with me, so as an engineer, I couldn't resist buying to spend some "geek time" with them.

Santa is bringing a couple more educational/creative/building things that are cheaper, as he needs to spread the wealth to others while encouraging education. We discussed our views about gifts from Santa with the other family in our "pandemic learning pod" a couple months ago, in which they were also in a similar mindset being a divorced couple. Santa provides the cheaper/educational gifts, while family members can take credit for the more expensive PS5 type gifts. While I teach students from 16 year olds to mature adults, I couldn't imagine the difficulties being an elementary teacher having to explain why Johnny got a PS5 from Santa, while Billy got a yo-yo.

Parents/In-laws typically get updated family/children pictures in a nice frame since both sides like to hang them on walls, along with hand-crafted gifts from the kiddos. We get gifts for nieces/nephews, but we all decided many years ago to forego gifts for our generation.

Hobby Lobby is the whip. Real toys for real American kids.

Love me those. Way back when I got a shitty Eldon 6V unit for Xmas (1967?). My friend had a Strombecker 12V set and another had a Scalextric 12 set. And there were Fly Over Chicane things advertised on TV during cartoons.

I always felt downtrodden... So I bought a 12 V Cheeta (the Chebby Cobra?) that ran on both their tracks. I felt better then.

When my son was old enough we bought an Tyco HO set with as much track as we could. The next Xmas I bought 2 more compatible sets on after Xmas sales.

We have a ton of track and buying extra sets was cheaper than buying cars and shit. So we set it up every Xmas. All over the recroom and down the hall. The cats fucking love it. If only I could train them to fetch the wipe outs.

I never really thought about that. I don't think I thought about that much when I was young, though, either
