@fordman84 and y’all other DFDubbyans here of this? I know a deer hunter just shot a mountain lion on the east side of Dallas in Hunt county the last day or so.

—Hood County officials declined Monday to release a copy of the preliminary autopsy report, saying the case is still under investigation. “The autopsy showed an injury on the neck of puncture injuries consistent with that of a large cat,”

There are mountain lions everywhere. It doesn’t get reported as to not spook campers and hikers among other reasons.

Live 90 miles SW of Ft Worth and have all my life. Mountain lions are in the areas but not as numerous as people think. Many people mistake them for bobcats. Most hunters know this but folks unfamiliar with wildlife see a bobcat and think they see a lion. Lions are a fact but not nearly as populated as bobcats. Then you have people who see black panthers but no one ever produces hard evidence. Never seen one in all my years living in the country nor have I known any local hunters who have shot, seen or taken a picture. You can hear anything but true experienced hunters do not spread such rumors. Hope this helped.

This is one on camera they think a deer hunter shot in Hunt county

DNR lies about them not being here too.

Yeah, it was coyotes that took down a horse....

The cougars on Vancouver Island were the most hunted of all the locations over the years.

And they have become people smart.

We also have the most dense population of cougars in the world.

how in the fuck can you mistake a bobcat that not only has tell tale features like the ears and such but the biggest give away is that they are like 8 times smaller than a mountain lion........... 160lbs vs 20lbs............. how can someone make that mistake?

In the late 90's the iowa DNR denied the existence of them in Iowa. Even clear, close photos were determined to be "large yellow labs."
My buddy hit one outside of Harlan and they wouldn't even come out to collect it, saying that was impossible because there are none in Iowa.
He took it and dumped it on the local guys office doorstep.

LOL but bobcats are just big cats, like maine coons get to 18lbs hell i had some that were evolved to be big (farm cats with wild pitbulls and coyotes) and those fuckers were as big as a bobcat, but i could never imagine a person mistaking it for any kind of lion lol, you'd have to be somethin special to call a cat a lion (even if they are all "cats")

I've seen on numerous occasions Mtn. Lions on my property. Hunting and feeding on the local vermin.

Game cam? Cmon man just one pic?? Maybe a tree pic?

Real note yeah they have to be thicker than people think. Why the hell do they keep acting like they aren’t around? I didn’t realize they were really thick down by the border in the mountains

They trot through my back 40 regularly. Too bad they don't eat Rexies...

Every town I've lived in has lost at least one child to a cougar.

I have heard, but haven't seen any. We have really bad bobcats in the area. My inlaws neighbors had one of their dachsunds killed in the backyard by one. I posted a photo of one on our fence a couple of months ago. They are not scared at all, will walk right up to our door.
