Playoffs need to extend to at least 8 teams

The committee has put in teams that didn't win their division and teams that lost their CCG, one thing they have yet to do is put in a 2 loss conference champ, and they had the chance with Ohio State in 2017. Don't lose 2 games.
So, a team is allowed one loss?

Everyone on the planet my ass. Even the land thieves didn't think they should be in.

So, "Just win your games...." is arbitrary. That's what I thought.
At the beginning of the year everyone had them penciled in. Trust me there are plenty of Sooners they think they should have been there and could give Alabama a game because they beat Florida.

It's not black and white. There's tons of other factors.
That's what I was getting at. It ain't as simple as "Just win your games and earn your spot." A team can lose a game and still "earn a spot". And that loss can be arbitrary...or not black and white...as you said.

The committee made a "judgement" call in saying Notre Dame deserved to be in over Texas A&M. Which is fine. Morons that think it IS all black and white are living in LaLa Land. It ain't and the process is designed for it NOT to be black and white. That's why they went to a committee instead of polls/computers. Even polls can be arbitrary.

No, not EVERYONE did. The polls may have had them there but not everyone. The polls also had Georgia, Auburn, LSU, Penn State, Texas, Texas A&M, blah, blah, blah.

When you're making your argument off semantics then you've already lost. That is basically all you have in this thread and hanging onto them for dear life.

We only need 4 teams and if you want in then win your games.

I wonder how close we are to to the Power 5 splitting off into a separate division.

Simply cannot see even really good teams outside getting in, so long as the recruiting gap remains.

I am of the opinion that the committee simply didn't want a rematch and figured that Bama would certainly beat Notre Dame, thus avoiding a possible 3rd game between them and Clemson should Clemson have won.

Nonetheless, the committee needs to be done away with and just bring back the BCS rankings. While we are at it, get rid of preseason rankings as well.

They should. And add about 15 g5 teams plus ND to make 80.

Ultimately to me it would work better with 4 conferences with 20 each and a full round Robin within each division. Change around divisions yearly except for maybe a few rivalry "marriages"

Do a soccer style relegation system maybe even and allow g5 and lesser p5 teams to move up and down

We do have too much of a human factor involved right now.

Preseason rankings do absolutely need to go away but they never will. The media will always continue to rank teams (heck we would continue to do it) whether it's and official ranking or not, and this will continue to influence the human factor.

The seeding is not relevant, it's just a nod to the season you had. Alabama won it as the #4 seed and were the odds favorite for both games.

Exactly my point. Teams are capable of winning the championship even if they aren’t ranked first or second. Im old enough to remember when people thought moving to 4 was a waste of time because it would just always be #1 vs #2 anyways. Now people are saying the same thing but with 4 as the cutoff

Fans ranking is fine as that is not the issue, the media is. For the betterment of the sport, they should wait til week 8, but that is my opinion.

Rankings sell interest and create clicks....they aren't going away and if the AP and coaches poll started later then someone would replace them almost immediately to fill the void. Hell ESPN kinda of does it with their Power Ratings so I'm sure FOX would follow.

I'm not saying it's going to happen, just that it would make things better in my opinion.

I have difficulty understanding how people looked at this year's bowl games and decided we needed more shitty football.

What did Georgia's struggle win over Cincinnati say about either team that said they were playoff contenders? Georgia got boat raced by the other two playoff/NY6 teams they played and Cincinnati lost to them.

Did you watch the Oklahoma game and think, man this team deserves a playoff spot, for beating a team missing 4 offensive players responsible for 34 of 41 touchdowns and 4 starters on defense...

Texas A&M over North Carolina...Don't care they got boat raced by Alabama and Notre Dame respectively.

The answer to two shitty semi-finals is not more shitty football.

LOL, any P5 school that votes for that should have their administration fired immediately. Any G5 school that votes against it should have their administration fired.

The same people in the BCS days would have said we don't need shitty semifinals because "we know" Clemson is the 2nd best team. We all saw how that played out on the field. So far seeding hasn't made a difference which shows there's no gap between the top 4 teams. The playoff skeptics were proven wrong on that. The question is whether that would change with 8. It may but it's hilarious the same people are making the same arguments against the 4 team playoff (which were proven to be nonsense)

Don't necessarily disagree but I do believe the schools need to do something to break away from the NCAA
