Stafford to Rams

The more I think about the more I think this makes sense for everyone.

LA is chasing a title and got the guy they think will get them there. They get it no one's gonna give a shit about the draft capital they gave up for it. Not to mention two of the top NFC teams this year's QBs are old as dirt and that could open up the conference.

Detroit is rebuilding and got a young QB who's had some success in the NFL, if he turns shit around great you have your guy if not he's got an out in a year and they have a pair of firsts

That’s it a nutshell.

Rams thinking short term in win now mode. Lions thinking long term.

Stafford will be 36 years old when the Lions cash in that 2023 1st rounder.

Rams are gambling he wins them a SB in the next 2-3 years.

Good trade for both teams. Rams are now a legitimate SB favorite fir the next few years at least and the Lions get a great start on a full rebuild

Also I'm now a LOT more interested in trading Matt Ryan lol

A great trade for Detroit.

Doesn't anyone else think this deal was a little pre mature?
I mean the season isn't over yet.

I mean Detroit should be pulling the trigger on a deal like this all day long but the Rams really didn't wait to see what the market was going to be like 2021.

I think the trade has McVay written all over it. He seems very fiery and emotional.

This is like when a girl dumps her boyfriend but she doesn’t just dump him she moves to California, shaves her head, joins a band and becomes a lesbian.

Don’t be surprised if McVay shaves his head next.

I respect the Rams aggressiveness. They’ve basically given themselves a 2 year window to win the SB.

Of course it does, he had a front row seat of his former QB not getting the job done.

Pretty much how I see this trade. It’s very specific to two teams and their needs. That specific meshing of needs is what drives the deal, just like any negotiation.

This is why I never understand the tendency to want to project other trades (ie Watson) based on this trade. I get how resigns or free agent signs set the market for a player and a position, but I’ll never understand the desire to use trades to set the market for other trades in the same way.

It’s not logical. Whoever the Texans might be talking to right now (or any other team looking to trade a QB) those discussions are predicated by where the win-win is for the trade, not what the most recent blockbuster trade went for.

Stafford is a good QB but has suffered numerous injuries which makes this a risky trade for the Rams.

That's the perception, but reality is that he's started 16 games in 9 of the last 10 years (only 8 in 2019) so he seems durable enough. His completion % is good, but not great and he thrown some picks at bad times. I'm curious to see if he can be a significant upgrade over Goff and equally curious to see how Goff will do under the Lions new meathead coach.

The Lions got a younger QB with the potential to improve plus two number one picks. The Lions got the better of this deal.

McVay dont believe in 1st round picks.
I dont think he has ever had one come draft day.

I heard he thinks they are voodoo! Get rid of them!

Matthew "Mr. Glass" Stafford to LA.
you do realize from 2011 to 2020. Only 2019 did Stafford not play 16 full games. Right?

I hardly think that fits the Mr. Glass scenario. :headscratch:

He was hampered by injuries the seasons he played 16 games and it hurt his effectiveness.

Which was still better than Goff.
Still doesnt fit the Mr. Glass Scenario however.

Anytime a QB can't perform at 100% over many seasons the name Mr. Glass would apply.
Many?

pretty much you mean just about all QBs are Mr. Glass if you are gonna get that picky about it.

Many QBs can still perform at a high level despite not being 100%.
