Big Ten Basketball

I looked up some of the rules about defending in the cylinder and couldn't put two and two together why anything was called. He wasn't elbowing him or pushing him, it was very solid defense but I believe a foul wasn't called, it was a violation of some sort. I was so confused bc I've never witnessed a call like that made before.
Contact was made by the offensive player as he was trying to protect the ball under the hoop but Ahrens was in his "cylinder" so it's a foul on him because he was invading the dudes personal space I guess.

It's a completely asinine rule to begin with, I've hated it since I read about them implementing it. To call it when a player is down on the block though is just insane.

Aaron Craft would have fouled out of every game had this rule been in effect when he played lol

Cylinder calls actually happen a lot. Mostly in the paint when guys drive to the hoop and initiate contact with a guy who isn't straight up. It was weird to see last night because McCaffrey wasn't trying to shoot . Technically the right call but I still hate it. Why should a 6'3 guy driving to the hoop get a call where he jumps into the defebder ? I know there was a certain reason they passed the rule but it's escaping me now what it was

Yes, 10 years in and they are struggling immensely. Their football program is in shambles and their basketball program is a train wreck. Not really sure on other sports, as Football and Basketball is what brings in the money.
But, they making corn.

Damn OSU is rolling. If we only had IL boy EJ Liddel at the 4 for the Illini. :L He would be the missing piece to beat a Baylor or the Zags

Wisconsin @ Illinois. in 7 minutes. Should be a helluva game

Question... if you take the best 7/8 players from the Big 10 do they beat Gonzaga or Baylor 3 of 5?

Trice
Dosunmu
Harper Jr
Liddel
Garza

Kofi
Livers
??

probably leaving someone out but I’m still unsure. That’s how good those 2 teams are. Anything can happen. Baylor can go cold for 1 game but their defense is stupid good

And I wonder what Michigan’s record would be right now in the big 10 if they didn’t get the Covid ?

Illini too much for Wiscy. Wiscy doesn’t match up well to Kofi or Ayo at all.

Wisconsin's interior defense is a weakness that Illinois, Iowa and Michigan can exploit. I can see use making 2nd weekend depending on matchups but Sweet 16 is the limit

It just seems strange to think of Michigan and Ohio State as being overachieving.

Trice being on that list is laughable. Dude is a 24 year old senior and is only avg 13.5 ppg and shooting 42% from the field. I'd take Carr, Ayala, M Jones, and a lot of other guys in general over him.

I think my starting 5 would be:

Carr
Dosunmu
Wagner
Liddell
Garza

It would be a good game against Baylor/Gonzaga, I'm not sure who would win, honestly.

They would have been favored in all the games postponed. My guess is they would have won them all. At worst 1 loss.

Id also take Dickinson over Cockburn on the bench.

That big lug is a traffic cone on D and Baylor already made him unplayable once.

It was off the top of my head which is why I said I’m probably leaving a few off. That said — What game besides Iowa did Carr do anything special? Goodness homer home on

You need a true PG on that team that can shoot. Trice looked fine today. A lot better than Carr at Illinois. Ayala is a great player when healthy. Washington on OSU is pretty consistent too

Lol Kofi barely touched the ball that game. Was 3/4 from the field. If Illinois doesn’t forget about Kofi some games they might only have 1 or 2 losses total.

and Baylor has made everyone look bad btw. Their perimeter D is stout

You think Trice has been better than Carr? Lmao.

Yeah trice played better against Illinois than Carr did, but trice also put up a fucking goose egg last game against PSU. Also, Carr made the Wooden Award Watch List as a top 20 player in the country. Everyone knows I'm not a homer. You're gonna have to do better than that.

Ha this isnt about his offense though. Its his D. Baylor had him on ice skates and as a result in foul trouble and benched most of the game. I just think if in this hypothetical if you are gonna go with a true old fashioned big, Dickinson would then be the better bet.

LOL Carr is maddening as hell but I honestly don't think(aside from SJ76 apparently) there is a single person that follows college basketball including Badgers fans, that would take Trice over Carr.

The one thing Carr truly sucks at is defense. Now I'm not sure exactly what the stats say, but everytime I watch Bucky, Trice is easily their worst defender and the guy other teams try and match up.

Goodness man I said Trice looked better than Carr against Illinois. Fact

I also asked What game besides Iowa did Carr do anything special? Goodness homer home on

Plus, Trice turns fucking 25 in a couple months. Dude is old as hell.
