Every coach needs to improve. Saban argued for the second back on the kick six and tried to kick a field goal he couldn't make. Even the GOAT makes mistakes from time to time.
You truly don't know anything about college football if you think Smart isn't one of the best at roster management. Seriously, just stop. We lose 5* QBs all the time because somehow he keeps stacking them like cordwood. Again, it's what happens when you recruit at an elite level. You want to list all the teams that have 1 5* QB in the last 5 years? It's a short list. And no one how had several kept them all ... that's not how it works. UGA has had six on the roster (or will be on the roster) since Smart has been here. Six 5* QBs, so no, they aren't all going to hang around and they aren't all going to work out. And that's not what roster management means, ffs.
No, Mayes sucked last years and I say that as someone who was a fan of his. He rated out as one of the worst OL in the SEC. He was fucking turnstile. Of all the places on UGA's team OL is the absolutely last place we need to worry about losing a player. Do you realize that Reese played in 3 games? He played well, but that's because he is a good player, just not better than everyone else in front of him at UGA. Cox had an attitude problem at UGA, and he was hardly a star at UF. Aziz had more sacks in the Peach Bowl than Cox has all season long. Again, Cox isn't a bad player, he just wasn't good enough to with his attitude to excel at UGA. So much for your "long list" and I have to seriously wonder if you follow UGA football beyond your anger at Smart.

It's not a losing attitude. You're the one that is ok with losing. That's a losing attitude. Losing and not being pissed about it is something I can't fathom. The gap to Bama is widening, not closing. The talent gap was already closed, but the performance on the field is behind what it was in year 2 for Smart.
For the last time, Jake Fromm wasn't a 5 star. But he gets them, and then refuses to use them for some reason. It's baffling. Literally the only good decision he's ever made at QB was Fromm over Eason, and even then, an injury to Eason forced his hand.
And I wasn't aware of Mayes having such a bad season, but that's surprising to me, he was a good player for us. Had to be scheme or coaching. And we're deep at o-line, but it wasn't our strongest point last season by any means. A lot of new starters, some drop off was expected, but we had pressure on the QB more often than I'd like to see.

I am sorry, but saying you would rather lose a game 35-10 and never have a chance to win it v. being ahead with the opposing team having a second and 26 in OT of the NC is being a loser. Look, neither of us wanted to lose ... duh. But it appears only one of us actually wants to win. That defines loser in my book.
Fromm was a 5* on Rivals, 4* on 247. Ffs, can you concentrate for one second. Whether Fromm was a 5* on all services or not, the point is the same.
Of course you weren't aware ... you actually don't follow UGA football but come here and spout all sorts of bullshit about "your" team. You didn't know that Reese only played in 3 games. And you had no idea how well Cox played or not. But to claim all 3 played well - they didn't - fit your narrative, if not the facts.
I'm done arguing with you. You've proven over and over you don't even follow college football. I'll talk to those that do.

I'd rather win than anything. But if we're gonna lose, I'd rather just lose. But you enjoy losing in heartbreaking fashion and making excuses for the coach that caused the losses.
Fromm being a 4 star does matter. We lost two 5 stars because of a 4 star. One was the right call, the other wasn't(and Kirby never would have made the right call had Eason not got hurt and saved Kirby from himself).
Sorry, I wasn't aware that Mayes had a bad season playing for Tennessee. I know he would have been a starter here had he not transferred. Reese played well when he was on the field, and Cox was a nice piece for Florida.
And I highly doubt that last line is true. I can reel you in anytime I take a notion. Just look at what got you all hot and bothered this time.

Mainly because they are the only team that might be more bipolar than Michigan State and I don’t want the bag juju.

Sorry got a little PSU vs The World mentality here since we've entered The Big Shit Conference back in 93, heightened more though for the past decade for obvious reasons. However for teams with whom I have a special hate for:
1) Ohio State- represents everything I despise when it comes football. Arrogance, insufferable fanbase, extreme hypocrisy...oh and to top it off, way too many instances of "Should've/Would've/Could've" against them but I guess it's standard protocol for Penn State to blow it.
2) Notre Dame- I don't hate-hate them, it's just fun to hate them and I love to see their 90% non alumni fanbase suffer at results they think was new & fresh but instead been the same thing for a few decades. It's amazing.
3) Michigan- Think of what I said about Ohio State, tone it down some notches, and also add in the factor that we can actually beat them from time to time again.
4) Every Florida Team- Thugs.
5) USC- Represents the West Coast, enough in my book.
That's pretty much all I can think of that would have an immediate disgust on my face, but I have close friends and family members who are fans of these teams, so after a while you get over the gripes in personal life while still maintaining that hatred that makes the games even more fun on game day.

Sorry, they represent LA which in itself is the representative of West Coast due to numerous factors. But even if we go by recent success then I've seen Pete Carroll Trojans which were far more present and dominant than 2010s Oregon.
My team isn't even trying. We just hired an offensive coordinator that last worked under Dantonio's and their offense the last few years of his tenure!

USC has had 20 All Americans, five of which were unanimous, Oregon has had 21 All Americans but just three were unanimous.
USC has had 3 Heismans (idgaf about vacated shit) vs. Oregon's just one
USC has way more draft picks, nearly triple in terms of first rounders compared to Oregon
2012 was the last time both USC and Oregon were #1 in the Polls.
So like, uh, I'm not sure what you're expecting from non Pac-12 fans, but I think it's pretty clear who is a "representative" of the West Coast speaking strictly from this century (even bigger mismatch comparing prior to 2000)
