How much longer until robots replace umpires?

I just don't get it. Everyone knows some of these umpires blow or are just assholes (West). The players know it. The coaches know it. The fans know it. MLB has to know it. The union must have incriminating photos of each of the owners.

Still cracks me up when a few years ago the umpires all wore matching bracelets to make a statement essentially because they felt players and fans were to harsh and said mean words to them. Give me a break. Then get rid of the umps that rightfully give you a bad name.

Remember a few years ago when Angel Hernandez filed a discrimination lawsuit against the MLB because they were racist for not giving him more postseason and All Star game assignments?

ha. That dumbass just lost it a few weeks ago. The court basically said its BS because Alfonso Marquez had been rewarded those positions several times since then. The court should have pulled out his ball-strike accuracy data and made it public how pathetic he is.
 
Computers, robots, whatever, a dancing blind bear could make better calls than Angel Hernandez.

A dancing blind bear would also be less of a distraction on the field than Angel Hernandez.
 
I was pretty anti-robot umps at first but my god they're quickly making me for it. It's like they're blatantly getting worse and/or not even trying sometimes.

The worst part is how arrogant they are about it. Ump makes a mistake? The person who protests their mistake gets punished when they get tossed. Angel Hernandez doesn't get big games? Well must be racism, not that he's ass at his job.
 
Not in the MLB. never, not until there are robot players.
 
Guessing it’ll be about exactly as long as I still watch MLB.

I could entertain the idea of technology calling balls/strikes. While this would have limited pitchers that have true command (not to be confused with control), like Greg Maddox, it could make for a consistent product.

It will absolutely diminish the mental game some, as part of preparation is knowing the umpire behind the plate, the pitcher that can take advantage, and the hitter zeroing in. However, to improve fairness and consistency, I would be interested if done correctly.
 
The baserunner ran out of the basepath. The pitcher never went into the basepath. The umpire called interference on the pitcher and awarded the runner first base.
