Sports cards and sports Memorabilia

Anyone here do any collecting......?

Ive collected a ton of stuff begining in 1974 up to 2000 when I got married a 2nd time around and bought a house.....Had more important things to do with my money than spend it on that.....

But recently my wife who works as a clerk for the Post Office, has been saying there is 3-4 guys coming into the po and sending and picking up cards.....

Well 2 months ago after hearing that,I decided to get my collection out and started scanning thru them....

Ive pulled out a couple dozen Kobe Bryant rookies,a Payton rookie amongst a bunch of other stuff....

So I decidef to start a thread tp see what some of you guys have and qould lile to share.....

Heres my first of the bunch......:

Signed by both players plus I have an actual type oof authenticity with a pic of me and both players.....

Anyone interested in sharing what they got.....?
Wow. That's fucking awesome! The two greatest running backs of all time in one box - and signed!?! That shit should be locked in a max security display case at the Smithsonian!

Tons, literally, of baseball cards. Mostly from 1989-mid90's. So basically all the worthless years of cards. I have a lot of 1989 Upper Deck baseball sets though, most factory sealed. Probably have 15 of them I picked up about 10 years ago when they were going for $20 a set on eBay.

A buddy of mine has tons of those sets too,I told him to Ill give him 20$ for app.8 unopened boxed.....He has all the sets from 1986-1992......But no 1989 UD set....

All of them other than Griffey Jrs are utterly trash...... :headscratch:

Those older cards like that are god to vg shape......There were really nothing to actually help keep those things nice and snug.....
I dont ever remember anu toploaders for sale nor vinyl pages.....

I just stuffed mine all in boxes......

Those 72 cards were colorful and nice looling.....kinda before their time....
I grew up about 30 mins from where Munson was born and raised so I heard a lot of stories about him and have some connections. So its more sentimental with him but I agree I really love the cards from the early 70's

'89 was when I started collecting. I loved the Upper Deck lines, they were so glossy and well made

Terrible accident that took his life in midstream of playing.....

He deserved the HOF....

Well not sure about that, but my grandson will enjoy it someday.....
I have two Barry Sanders rookie cards. One was his Topps and I actually wrote to the Lions and they sent me some Pro Sets which included his Rookie

The Cleveland Indians used to have a double a team in the Canton area and their park was Thurman Munson Stadium. After they left and went to Akron the place became kind of a dump and now only HS teams use it. That makes me sad.

I started out with baseball cards then moved into football and then NBA cards. I have about 1/2 a dozen cards from the early 70's that are "oversized". I always thought they were really cool looking

Dude,thats badass.....

I actually had the 1990 Score rookie saved to my phone to place rhe final bid on it,and got busu and forgotavout it.....

It went relatively cheap for a card that looked mint......40$

I have a bunch of Magic Johnson stuff - cards, mint magazines, the USA Today when he announced the HIV status, etc.
I still have a vivid memory of that... That's one of those "where were you when that happened?" things to me - right in line with the Challenger explosion and WTC attacks.

Magic was my favorite player. I had just gotten done with basketball practice (grade school). My mom picked me up and as soon as I hopped in the car she said "did you hear that Magic Johnson has AIDS?" (We didn't know it was HIV yet.) I was in complete shock. I literally fought back tears. The rest of that evening, all I did was watch everything I could about Magic.... His press conference... What was going to happen to him... and the Lakers...

I have a small collection of antique golf clubs in leather golf bag. The clubs range from around 100 years old to much older than that. The bag has to be from the early 20th century as well.

One of the cooler clubs is an awesome replica of a 1850-1870 vintage "long nose play club" that is still 80-90 years old and has some decent value (2-3k). If it was real it would be worth 10 grand or more.

I went to the Pro Football HOF as a kid and they were handing out old media guides. It had the addresses for all of the teams. I would write asking for autographs which I rarely got but most teams would respond with either Pro Set cards or promo stuff all for the price of a stamp. Imagine that today!

Same here. I was a soph in HS and remember being glued to the TV that whole night

I cried like a baby, man. I was 18 and working nights back then. It was a Thursday and I was woken up by my Mom in the early evening and told Magic was having a press conference saying he had AIDS. It was like an ethereal nightmare. I just sat there numb as fuck when he said "I'm retiring from the Lakers."

I have two Fleer Scottie Pippen rookie cards (mint). They are also mistake cards because his name is mispelled

That was crazy because he had just played in the Finals against the Bulls that previous summer

Thats really cool......

My son wrote the Bears about 6 yrs ago,and they sent him an autopenned picture of some of the 85 Bears.....
None of the Big names either....

Dumb....

I had lost my collection of cards for several years. After my divorce they ended up in some box. I knew they were still in the plastic sheets and binder at my ex's house. I told my son if he found them I would give him $50. He ended up finding it for me this past fall. That was a great day

Yeah, but blew his hamstring in either Game 1 or 2. What a disaster that series was except for the Sam Perkins 3 in Game 1. That was really the end of the great Lakers and Celtics teams and the rise of Chicago and Detroit, which was some great basketball, too.
