I gave Coach Collins a year 0 last year. This year I think it is optimistic to get 2-3 wins. Always hard to recruit here, but it could get better now that upcoming players aren't scared off by the scheme. It was hard enough competing for recruits as a predominantly Engineering school in the middle of SEC Country without having an offense nobody wanted to play in.Going back to a traditional scheme will set you back about three years to get to square one. Switching to an option scheme from traditional will be about a year less, since it's easier to run that scheme with "below par" players. You're going to.have struggles for another couple years, on top of trying to recruit to an engineering school anyway.
Not going to lie, I hated his option scheme, and not just because of the cut blocks (close to chop blocks) that can greatly increase injury on the defense (okay, slightly bitter). It's because our own offense couldn't score enough on a below average defense to make the clock killing option offense worthless. We could never seem to pull away or get a lead where the option was a detriment to your own team trying to make up ground.
I missed the option last year, but watching Navy get absolutely demolished by BYU I remember why we are ditching it.
