USA Women's Team getting their asses kicked

It always seems to be a challenge at times for countries to both field a competitive tournament and Olympic squad. It’s got to be even more so this year for some European or South American countries since the literally just had a major tournament. I think they had to decide if they were going to stress one or the other (and you know which they picked).

Example….that might have been Germany’s best effort in the Euro for 2021. Maybe that’s how a reserve in the Premier league gets a hat trick for Brazil easily.

I can’t try to make that argument for US women, as they didn’t have a major tournament this year or next. I’m just waiting for the next game to see if they are truly shot or it was a weird anomaly against another good team.

It’s all fucking weird with the year off from major tournaments.

I read the rules. Euros and Copa they had to release players. In Olympics it is club option. Salah wanted to play for Egypt, but Liverpool said no. Women it is full national teams.

I think I am done with the Olympics. Bayern will be back in business on 8/12. Fun begins again then. One thing about soccer...no offseason and no one turns down an opportunity for the National Team (NBA Players?). The best players get about 3 weeks off at best....unless you are Richarlison.

It is called the dark arts. Baseball guys banging on trash cans to steal signs, Patriots with cameras at Jet practices, Brady getting footballs deflated, steriods, etc, etc, etc. Everyone does it to get an edge. He is not being shot and he knows it...but does the ref know it lol.

Actually if the USA finishes second it is good thing. Should woop ass New Zealand and probably Australia. That sets them up against Great Britain. Third gets them The Netherlands. Not ideal there. Watch it will be USA vs Sweden again in final.

An anomaly like Leicester City winning EPL a few years ago at 5000-1? Some people took that bet and made a killing.

NBA has the worse refs of all. I remember the good ole days Magic Johnson could travel from LA to Omaha and not get called. When Lakers in trouble, he'd run over someone in the lane it was never a charge. Biased to the stars.

No, if USA gets 2nd, they would play the winner of Group F Which is Netherlands or Brazil. 3rd place would likely get Great Britain

Really? They went over it on Sirius soccer channel day before yesterday but you are right and Sirius wrong. Yes third gets Great Britain and they would see Sweden in semi final not final. Good info. Thanks for the update.

Team was too old. Period! Vlatko going to get his ass shitcanned with those tactics! They has their run though. You have to say that. A couple World Cups, Can't take that.
 
Interesting stat:

World Cup Winner has never followed that up with an Olympic Gold Medal even though it is usually 1 year after (this year 2 with COVID).
