Iowa State in the BIG west at this point would be fantastic for the BIG. Great rival game to make things a little more interesting in that side of the conference and a thorn in the side of the others as long as Campbell is there. Nobody is gonna tune in to BIG network to watch KU and Iowa play football, NOBODY, but many will for the CyHawk bowl, ISU/NU, ISU/_____ .. Basketball is another issue but these moves aint about basketball.
More will tune in to watch Kansas basketball. They are a national brand. ISU is a state/regional brand at this point.

But I hope they both join the B1G.

I think that perception you refer to has to translate into dollars but that's JMO.

Current conference members have been receptive to teams that will increase total revenue AT LEAST to the point it doesn't reduce their current share. If they bring in a new team that doesn't increase total revenue enough and decreases their share when divided equally, then it is a no go. I believe some have brought in new members with the agreement the new members wouldn't get a true equal share until a certain point in time.

But the best thing ISU has going for it is their AAU status. Like many others have pointed out, the real money is in research dollars. If adding ISU helps in that regard, then the current members would probably accept them whether their athletic program is good enough or not. Rutgers was like that but Rutgers also had the Eastern seaboard television sets. ISU doesn'thave that number.

Nebraska didn't get full share in the Big 10 for 6 years. However, their 'partial' share increased every year to keep them on par with what they'd have made if they'd stayed in the Big 12.

Nebraska's 2010 Big 12 share was $9 million. Their penalty for leaving was $9.225 million. So a $225,000 loss.
Basically the Big 12 kept Nebraska's 2010 share.

You need to keep that down low. No need to advertise the wagon was ever a thing and we’re going to help bring you into this century. Remember you almost have an invite to eat at the cool kids table so you don’t want to fuck it up.

Wow how sad is that South Carolina team? That's Kansas level spread man.
Yeah the SEC is breaking in a lot of new quarterbacks. Alabama lost half their team to the NFL. And OU is preseason #1 in several polls so the Sooners would be the odds on favorite to win the SEC this year.

Ultimately the Big 10 isn't only going to add 1 team. They'll add 2 at least.

So if you think they add KU and you think ND is off the table that pretty much only leaves current B12 schools to pick from .

So if not Iowa St then who ? WVU doesn't have the academics. Texas Tech ?

They travel well to bowl games.
From the games I've watched at Ames, they attend well at home also. But I've only watched their games against OU and Texas in Ames. Maybe one against Baylor a year to two ago. @78Cyclones, do they fill the stadium against the likes of Texas Tech, West Virginia, K-State, etc like they do against Texas and OU?

IIRC, something similar happend with Rutgers and Maryland. But, my memory ain't that swift.

I don't recall reading anything about Mizzou and A&M to the big or Utah and Colorado to the PAC.

South Carolina, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt are breaking in new coaches and new rosters so all three are question marks right now and could easily be the three worse teams.

@Deep Creek Yes, they do. Iowa State fans go to the games to watch Iowa State, not to see the other teams per se. There is no appreciable difference in attendance based on the opponent played.

None of the other three have a great "draw" in comparison to ND and KU (hoops). If AAU/research is the gatekeeper, then it has to be Kansas and Iowa State.

That's a true fan base. Isn't Nebraska that way as well?

That is rich coming from a Vols fan ... when the hell did Smokie volunteer?

Smokie is the Volunteer's dog you dumbass. War Eagle and Tiger are NOT related in anyway.

everyone knows UT/ou is playing in 8 more weekends in the Big12.. I was talking about '22

To be honest, it is hard to project what you guys will be like in 2022. I don't know your schedule or how Steve Sarkisian will do in Austin. About this time next year, I could make the call. It doesn't look great for Texas right away but I am not kidding myself, Texas will do well in the SEC in the long-term. Oklahoma is ready right away for the SEC. They just need to fix their defense (something they were in the middle of doing). I think Oklahoma is coming into the season with a #2 or #3 AP Ranking.

Virginia or North Carolina

Both AAU and either would be new footprint.

The ACC's got a horrible tv deal through I think 2035?

Does Kevin Warren have the Delaney nads and skills to poach one of those?

Yes, Nebraska is that way too. Even (way) more so.

So, I just looked up the numbers for last year and the year before RE: Iowa State home crowds.

In 2020 (with limited capacity):

The smallest Big Xii home crowd was 13,502 for the Texas Tech game.-*
The Oklahoma game drew 13,724.
The largest Big Xii home crowd was 14,256 for the West Virginia game.-*

In 2019 (with full capacity):

The smallest Big Xii home crowd was for 58,210 for the Kansas game.-*
The Texas game drew 58,946.-*
The largest Big Xii home crowd was 61,500 for the the Oklahoma State game.-*

*-I was there! Ironically, the only game of these six that I did not attend was Oklahoma last year (night game with foul weather forecasted).

With a Big 12 schedule that includes Tulane, Western Carolina, and Nebraska as their OOC opponents.

I don't think they get or maintain that lofty ranking with an SEC schedule.
