I'm with you ralphie. Bing 12 is done. Since I'm only 90 miles from Lubbock, I live around A LOT of Tech fans and seem even more resigned to the fact that they are going to have to choose between 3-4 options....all BAD ones.

What does your crystal ball say happens to each of the remaining 8 schools?
Well DC, I truly think TT has an out in the PAC. They need to grab Junior, TCU and kansas (that’d be a nice addition) and tell the PAC the would be willing to come. It gives the PAC access to Texas, adding some P5 schools that excel in certain sports (TCU/junior football, tech/KU bball). Thats exactly what the brass at TT and Junior should try and form.

Can only see the B1G adding ISU as a last option. Hope it happens but I think ISU may be screwed.

Baylor, KState and WVU are screwed.

Baylor and TCU could join with BYU and ND and make an Independent God league.

Oh hell no.....it's your fault all right. Here's what she said. You guys have led us down the primrose path.

"It is difficult to understand how an Oklahoma institution of higher education would follow the University of Texas to the detriment of the State of Oklahoma."
I am not sure if it is insulting that the world thinks OU is A Texas pawn or pure genius that OU got people to believe they are incapable of making their own decisions

Hope to god the other P5 conferences panic and start major realignment. Otherwise I guess they could try the independent route for a few years until realignment does happen.
In looking at things objectively, I don't see any of the remaining schools bringing enough to another P5 conference as to not lower the current members share....at least athletically. If Kansas and Iowa State bring enough research dollar swag, I can see the B1G being interested. I just can't calculate enough financial swag from West Virginia, Oklahoma State, K-State, TCU, Baylor or Texas Tech to make them attractive to any other P5. But, with cord cutting and all this new internet TV shit that has left us old farts behind, I don't know how such things are calculated these days.

TCU could be a selling point to the PAC because of the DWF area. However they are a religious institution and I had forgotten how much Berkley hates that.

But that independent God league could have the nickname of the “CULTS” lol

meh, the final form of this is going to a super Big Ten and super SEC w/ each conference probably having somewhere around 24 teams.

If your school isn't a part of those 48 teams, they're screwed and you should move on to watching professional sports or pick up a new hobby.

The best bet for most former Big12 schools is to go to the American. Although it isn't a Power 5, it has great teams like Memphis, UCF, Cincinnati, etc. American can dump UConn because they quit the American in Basketball for the Big East.

Mountain West is another great landing spot. To be honest, none of the eight remaining teams in the current Big12 is really a contender for a National Title (maybe Oklahoma State if they could pull another 2012 type season). They will get even less recruits without OU or Texas on the schedule. They would fit alright in the American and Mountain West were some of them could dominate and perhaps still into the playoffs as a Cinderella.

Heck a school like Oklahoma State playing in the American could have a better chance at a playoff than Tennessee.

To be honest, some of these schools might be better off going to the American than the Pac12. The AAC isn't that far behind the Pac12. You would get quality opponents like Cincinnati, Memphis, UCF, etc.

I think that was the same season, 2009. Stephen Garcia's best game ever
2010, i still remember that game fairly well

Garcia made some stupid ass play early in the second half and my dad starts going insane, "THAT WAS ENTIRELY YOUR FAULT, GARCIA!!!!!!"

Nah, opponents like cincy and Memphis have had decent to good runs recently but they’ll never match the history and prestige of USC, Washington hell and even Colorado. The PAC (given its location) is much more stable too In comparison.

Maybe I'm wrong. I just don't see them being attractive ENOUGH to the PAC 12. Culturally, Texas Tech and Cal are about as far apart as you can get. Be like Rush Limbaugh and Jesse Jackson getting in bed together. Many think Baylor and TCU are the "church" schools. I'd say Waco and Fort Worth are liberal compared to Lubbock.

I'm with you. I think that's the ultimate plan. But I think it may be more like 30-35 teams. We shall see.

I get that but the PAC is then better off staying at 12 and they just might do that then. This is a chance to add a huge state and some P5 schools that have a nice run going in the major sports.

Im just spitballing but I don’t see the PAC getting any major players besides the ones it has.

depends on the money, but yeah, anywhere between 24-32 teams.

This is why Pac12 is falling behind and will eventually be the new Big12. I think USC and Oregon want great teams in the league while Cal and Stanford are holding things back. Eventually, the football schools in the Pac12 will kick Cal and Stanford to the curb and go to the B1G.

Gotta have new names at that point. Maybe something like CFB South/North/East/West. :pop2:

With the expanded playoffs and this BIG12 news the AAC has become the next P5 school

I disagree if the school has an OPTION. (But, I don't see one so they may be stuck with what you say.) If I'm a Texas kid being recruited by TCU, Baylor, Texas Tech, I'm much more exited about the chance to play in Boulder, Tempe, Seattle, LA, Palo Alto, etc than playing in the AAC locations. But that's just me. Their parents may want them to play closer to home.

The way that I look at it, the three most valuable teams left in the Big12 are Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and Kansas. Here is my breakdown of each:

1. Iowa State - Iowa State is not as attractive as people think. It isn't in a big media market. The B1G already has Iowa which is the more successful school in the state. Iowa existing hurts Iowa State's ability to be in a major league. Matt Campbell really goofed up by not jumping to another open job like Texas, Tennessee, South Carolina, etc. this off season.

2. Kansas - Basketball, Basketball, Basketball. Kansas also is a bigger state than people think. Kansas will bring $$$ for Basketball. A Power 5 league will get them. I am guessing the B1G or Pac12.

3. Kansas State - They will try to follow Kansas. They have had some success in modern history in football but the brand and fanbase just isn't there. This team might end up in American or Mountain West. I just don't see them bringing any value. They might be in the weakest position of all the Big12 programs.

4. Baylor - Just won Basketball National Title so they appear attractive at first glance. However, this school has a smaller fanbase, a lot of scandals, are far away geographically from a major Power 5, and won't bring Texas like people think. They are in Texas and Texas A&M's backyard which will mean they will always be in the shadows of those two titans.

5. TCU - Has same problems as Baylor but maybe even amplified. Although competitive in football, they just don't have the fanbase or tv support. They will be dwarfed by Texas-Texas A&M SEC Monster.

6. Texas Tech - They are a little different in their Texas brothers in that they are in a very different part of Texas and have created more of a regional fanbase as a result. Because they are the main game in Western Texas, they have a larger fanbase. They have been competitive in football and basketball. I think they are attractive enough to get a Power 5 invite.

7. Oklahoma State - Very successful program in all sports with a lot of investment lately. If they were geographically closer to another region, they would be picked up in heartbeat. Sure they will be in the shadow of Oklahoma but I think they are probably the most attractive and competitive team left in the Big12

8. West Virginia - ACC or bust. I think it is 50/50 on whether they go to ACC or American. They were always an odd fit in the Big12 anyways. I wish the ACC would pick them up as that makes the most sense from creating rivals.

lol ISU AD hopes OU and Texas honor the media contract until 2025
