Is Mike Norvell's tenure at Florida State over before it began?

This is exactly the way I’m seeing it. Not only has the recruiting classes been lacking for years there was already an underachieving class or two in place (OL is the big example). Flame outs at QB was a big one too.

I’m not sweating this game too much. It’s the privileged nature of Noles fans to think that everything starts on the up and up yesterday. I had no such illusions.

When we moved from Bowden to Fisher recruiting didn’t lose too much of a beat, and Fisher just needed to get his legs under him. He did and they soared again.

Now it is much more of a mess. I can’t throw in the towel on Norvell anytime soon. The number one thing that needs to be done is recruiting and he needs to get a few chances at that. Taggert might have been a mistake, Norvell might be now. But a revolving door doesn’t help anything get fixed faster in this sport.
I question Norvell’s ethics. That has been 50% of his issues before a snap. He handled the offseason exceptionally bad.

He’s proven just what a mother fucker he is. I hated the way he left FSU, but felt pretty confident he would play the same games at the next place.
I loving it though because aTm locked themselves into 10 years and 70 million guaranteed. He literally can’t be fired without a major financial issue (which they have a ton of as is). They are all in at this point.

No disagreement. I just think one offseason (especially such an unusual offseason) makes a trend.

To replace him after one year does not advance the program any faster than giving him another year or two to see what you’ve got.

I'm beginning to think he is the reason why his OL coaches suck tbh.. he's recruiting human shaped cubes at aggy too.. Wait till you see them in a couple weeks.. Poor Mond.. He will be running for his life on the field and outside that stadium
Mond is terrible. He could run Alabama’s offense behind that line and be fine he isn’t going to elevate anyone.

Definitely will take time to fix things at FSU. Kind of reminds me of some of Tennessee's issues.
Yup, jimbo was one of the more overrated guys out there.

I just telling you he had quite a few high profile assistants bail and several of them are back with him at aTm. There is at least something to it. People were leaving before it went to shit and part of the problem was he couldn’t replace them.

I saw this Jimbo is one of the top QB coaches in the country. He just couldn’t keep the best ones healthy other than Winston.
Elko has done well with him, outside the fact that he likes Safety's at CB and LBs at safety. But they are pissed with both of the OL coaches they have had since he arrived..Jim Turner and now Henson. Craig is their bagman, to bad they don't know how to use blue chip WRs. They are already wanting tommie robinson's head on a platter for how RB recruiting is going

MOND would be MUCH better if he was in Bama's system.. the reason why he sucks is because he's a DT playing a PP system. He would be solid in an Air Raid system. If we really look back at it.. Winston was the only QB he really had success with and the kid was changing the plays at the line all the time. He also wasn't a DT QB. They seem to be all in on Haynes King, and it would be on point for Mond to be benched and they put in the true freshman in. Sr QBs in CS always get benched

I didn't watch the game but I think he is a good coach. I hope they run him out of town before the talent starts producing results.

I think Jimbo can coach too. He only had one bad year, 2017 which was his last year at FSU. Even that year, they started out playing touch against Bama before their QB went down. The team seemed to lose its mojo after that injury and loss.

yeah you should hire him for 85 million, he would turn around the VOLS just like that

We could get Jon Gruden for that lol. I say if Pruitt fails, we should give Peyton Manning a shot or just quit CFB.

Last thing FSU can afford is another buy out so he’s there at least 2 probably 3 years.

yep and if they did come up with the money.. it would set back that program another 5 years.

Their last 4 years according to 247 their recruiting rankings:

2020: 22
2019: 18
2018: 11
2017: 6

I understand injuries happen and people leave but they reside in the ACC and this is a football conversation. Why don’t they win more games again?

bro that's the biggest myth and an excuse Jimbo fans like KKL say. FSU kept paying him more and more whenever he would throw a tantrum. They already agreed for all the upgrades.. He wanted out because everyone had a piece of his candy, but wanted to make it seem that the admin didn't support him good enough.. now he has that with aggy and it's still the same results
Any coach at Texas or Texas A&M that claims they "didn't support him good enough"is a complete idiot and/or dickhead. Neither lack for anything in regards to support. And not just in football. Hell, IIRC, Texas has a golf set up that doesn't lack for anything!

Only legitimate complaint either might have is alumni interference...specifically BMDs. But, hey, they chose to work at those places. Comes with the money.

Agreed. The only thing about this was Charlie did get a bad break with "anonymous" high school coaches in the media.. which Coaches like Briles and Patterson used to negative recruit against him.

Funny how they were livid that Chuck had the FLorida 5 in his first recruiting class (which only 2 signed), they vilified him for going out of state.. Yet it's quiet when Jimbo has recruited almost half his class from outside the state. But just shows you that Texas is held in a much higher standard than aggy, this is why Texas is the Flagship.

Very bad trend but I love it.

In 2017 & 2018 Auburn was going head to head with FSU on more players than they were Georgia and Alabama (individually).

I'm just fine with Pruitt being there.

u must be scared of Jimbo waking the sleeping Giant in the East since he has given you fits at aggy huh??

No I think Pruitt is terrible also, therefore I want each of them to stay long term right where they are.

I want coach O to get a lifetime contract as well.
