Thee PAC 12, Big 10, and ACC (Alliance) are Dividing Up tOrphaned 8 As We Plorst.

....and the SEC could dump Vandy, Mizzou, Miss State.................and do the same.

I don't see us dumping Missouri because they are the only game in town for the state of Missouri. However, dumping Miss State and Vandy would make some sense (with the exception of Baseball!). Do you really need two Power5 schools in Mississippi or Tennessee? Both already have saturated recruiting markets.

Still Miss State and Vandy are not going anywhere because the SEC is still obsessed with tradition despite adding new teams.

Nah. New markets and better programs. But they aren’t going to kick out any existing members so it doesn’t really matter
"better"

Iowa state had two 9 win seasons since 2000 no conference titles
WSU has had six 9 or more wins seasons in the same time. and a conference title
oregon state has had five 9 or more win seasons since 2000 and a conference title

I hope it happens, then the B1G can go to 4 pods and odd and even scheduling years. Keeps it simple.

Also, I can already hear the SEC doesn't care about tradition by breaking up Big12. Big12 tradition was already dead. Let me give you an example using SEC Schools on what OU and Texas were facing.

Imagine the SEC loses Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, and Auburn to another league. Then Alabama and Tennessee want to go join the league that now includes Auburn and Florida. This is equivalent to what is going on with Oklahoma and Texas.

Texas is getting back A&M.

Oklahoma is losing a lop-sided in-state rivalry similar to the way Tennessee would lose Vanderbilt in this scenario.

3/8 Original Big 8 teams were gone (Missouri, Nebraska, and Colorado). Texas had lost their biggest in-state rival as well.

Big12 was a dead man walking. Also the separation that Alabama would now have with the SEC in that scenario is similar to the separation Oklahoma currently has with Big12.

Big12 tradition died in 2010/2011.

The logic is more about the regions/states. Do you really need two teams in Oregon and Washington? Just consolidate down to one team for each state and add new markets/states to the mix.

Although I agree with your view on Iowa State. However, Oklahoma State has been far more consistent than those other two programs. Oregon State and Washington State have had 1-11 or 2-10 years in which they lost to FCS teams.

I wasn’t talking about Iowa State. Oklahoma State is a far better football program than OSU or WSU. Texas Tech is about on par

That's 100% true. So, they are going with one less conference game to schedule an additional OOC game among the three conferences? Or, are they going to replace some crummy OOC match ups with new OOC games among the three conferences.

Im hearing they will drop down to 8 conference games. At least that’s the PAC 12s plan

Preach, Iowa State v WVU rivalry game :dhd:

I always thought it was odd the Pac12 played 9 conference games with only 12 teams. I think it might have been related to challenges in scheduling OOC games. I think Pac12 struggles in that regard because there just isn't the slew of G5 schools in your area like you have in other parts of the Country (B1G has the American and MAC, SEC has Conf USA and Sunbelt, ACC has Conf USA, American, and Sunbelt, Big12 has American, Conf USA, and MWC, Pac12 really only has the MWC).

That was part of the reason. The other was when it was the PAC 10, it made sense to play a round robin schedule and they just never changed after expansion. With the guaranteed OOC games, it makes sense to go to 8 conference games.

bigger stadiums =more tickets sold.
bigger stadiums does not = better team.
Washington state and Oregon State both won the conference in the 2000s when was the last Iowa State conference championship?
OK state had one in 2011 at least.
Iowa State has two 9 win seasons since 2000 and act like they should have been in on the SEC deal.
Bigger Stadium means more fan interest - even during lean years. The fact that two second fiddle teams in their own state in the Big Xii have bigger stadiums and more fans than a Pac-12 Power that is the premier team in their own state says something about the issues at hand in the Pac-12.

FWIW, Iowa State finished first in the Big Xii Regular Season last year AND still had the best record in the Big Xii after losing the CCG (ISU was 8-2, and OU was 7-2). No Trophy, but that is just semantics, I know, but no different than the Wash. State and Ore. State Co-Championships in the moth ball Era. Neither of those programs are anywhere as good as Iowa State right now and have NEVER had as much fan support.

As for better team, Iowa State beat both the Big Xii and the Pac 12 Championship last year, and they are loaded for bear again this year. Iowa State has a very strong team with many all-Big Xii and All-American caliber players and a strong program heading into 2021.

The PROGRAM is in GREAT shape and not a one hit wonder. FWIW, all of the 5th year seniors at Iowa State have only experienced winning, have played in the Liberty Bowl (W), Alamo Bowl (L), Camping World Bowl (L) and Fiesta Bowl (W) and have won a game in every other Big Xii Stadium (including @ Oklahoma and @ Texas).

If the Pac-12 doesn't want them, that's their business.

Not wanting to open a can of worms but winning the Big12 (especially pre-2010) is a lot harder than winning the Pac12 most years. Pac12 was a real struggle for the other teams when Pete Carroll had USC rolling. Oklahoma, Texas, and even Nebraska have been doing that in the Big12 regularly which makes it more difficult for teams like Iowa State to compete.

Interesting if true. The Pac12 taking KSU but not Texas Tech.

On another board it was noted that he said these were "done deals." It might be a situation where Tech is still in the process of finalizing their deal.

That being said, if the outcome of this is we get to stay at the big boy table and the three primary teams we recruit against in Texas get relegated to G5 status, shit that would be awesome.

The hard part of being a one hit wonder is you dont know you are one until you are.
